Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.
But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date.
But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing.
Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

If you still have no webcam installed
Run the "Add a device"application, accessed by clicking on the "Start" button, opening the "Control Panel," and then double-clicking on "Add a device."
The "Add a device" window will open and Windows will search for devices connected to your system but not installed.
Click on the webcam name that shows in the search box and then click "Next."
Choose whether you want Windows to search for the webcam device driver using Windows Update over the Internet, or if you'd prefer to have the device manager search for the driver using a disc supplied by your laptop manufacturer.
Most drivers can be found on the system recovery disc included with your laptop, if you choose to add the driver from the provided disc.
Place a check in the box next to your choice and then click "Next" to continue.
Wait while Windows searches from the driver using Windows Update, if this was your choice.
An active Internet connection is required for Windows to successfully do this. Allow the computer to install the driver and then reboot the system for the webcam to become recognized by the system.
Otherwise, you can use the system recovery disc or a driver downloaded directly from your laptop manufacturer to install the driver without using the Windows Update search feature.
Open the CD/DVD-ROM drive and insert the system recovery disc, or place the driver downloaded from the manufacturer in an easily accessed file directory on your PC, such as on the desktop, or in your "My Documents" folder.
Choose the option "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" in the "Add a device" application, and press "Next" to begin searching for your webcam driver.
The hardware wizard will search the system recovery disc and install the driver automatically. Press "Finish" to close the wizard and then reboot the computer to allow recognition of the webcam.
Choose the option "Install the software manually" in order to browse to the driver location where you saved the driver and install it from there.
Use the opened file manager and locate the driver.
Click the "Next" button to install the driver, then reboot the computer to add webcam functionality.

I have just bought an m-audio fast track guitar interface, i have tried it on both of my windows xp pc but i get no sound can you give me step by step instructions as i am missing something

Good Day,
First, check connection of all peripherals and the PL / XLR plugs that you maybe using. If all seems to be connected, you may try to re-install the software by following these steps:
If you are running on windows XP:
first Unplug the Usb connection with the PC to the M-audio interface. place the CD that came with the interface, and start the installation utility, and install. Just click Next, and it will continue. If you see a message stating that driver has not passed Windows Logo Testing just click continue anyway. This may appear several times. After installation, Reboot. After rebooting, plug in the M-audio interface, a window will pop-up and just select "Install automatically" then next, and now let it finish copying the rest of the needed files. Be sure though, to still have the CD in your drive. After that you may start the program as usual, you may also check the control panel if the settings for the audio interface suits you needs. Go to Control panel, Open "Sounds and Devices" and under Playback and Record, select Fast Track USB. Then click apply.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using Fixya.

NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND (VISTA) DIAG. ROOT CAUSE NO HARD DRIVE FOUND AFTER SON DID A SYSTEM RESTORE (OR SO HE SAYS)

1. To do this you have to boot your computer to the Windows Vista disk
.At the bottom says "Windows is loading files...."The Windows Setup environment will continue to load

2. At this screen you should configure the Language to install, Time and currency format, and Keyboard or input method options so that they are set correctly. When done, press the Next button. You will now be at the main Windows Vista setup screen where you would normally install Vista on to a computer.

I cant seem to get into safe mode on my comp

When you first turn the computer on Keep tapping F8 if that doesnt work Try F5.
If you can get into Windows then you can make the computer boot into Safe mode next time you start it up using MSConfig.
If you have XP you will need to Start > Run > msconfig.exe Windows Vista / 7, Start > (Type in the start search box under All Programs) msconfig, you will notice it come up and the top of the box > Click on it and when prompted by UAC click Continue / Yes.
Now that you are in MSConfig under the general tap select Diagnostic Startup, press apply then OK, you will not be prompted to restart the computer. Restart and it will put you into Safe Mode.

I have a virus on my yahoo account . It randomly picks people from my address book and sends messages mainly of a sexual nature. I have AVG installed on my computer but it is not picking this up. How can I...

When you say you have a virus in your Yahoo! account, whatexactly do you mean. Traditionally your Yahoo! account is stored on Yahoo!'sservers and you access your account using Internet Explorer, or another webbrowser. Is the setup you have currently or have you setup MS Outlook oranother email client to download email to your computer?

Download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware(MBAM) and Spybot Search &Destroy. Update both and run them.

MBAM:
After installed, click the Update tab then click Check for updates. Follow theprompts. You may have to reopen MBAM from the Start menu if it does not openautomatically after the updates install. After the updates install, check forupdates a second time.
Once MBAM is updated click the Scanner tab then click Perform full scan. ClickScan. If prompted for what drives to scan just click C: then click OK.
Once the scan is finished click Show Results then click the button to removethe infections.

Spybot Search & Destroy:
After installing find the Spybot folder in the Start menu and click UpdateSpybot-S&D.
In the Spybot-S&D Updater window click Search.
Click Continue.
Check all the boxes then click Download.
Once everything downloads and there is a green checkmark next to everythingclick Exit.
Open Spybot from the Start menu.
On the left, click Search & Destroy.
Click Check for problems.
If you get a prompt, click Yes.
Once the scan finishes click Fix problems.

I would also suggest updating AVG and running a full scan and/or uninstall AVGand install something else, like Avast!.

I lost my CD installer for audio driver and i was not able to find it anywhere in the web. please help. i am using. windows2003 OS. thanks

Hi

I would need to know what kind of sound card you have to get the drivers for it .

Click the Start Button at the bottom left of your screen and then click the "Programs" folder.

Next, click the "Accessories" "System Tools" and then the "System Information" folder or program (depending on what version of windows you have).

Within the System Information window, click the + symbol next to Components.

Click "Sound Device" (or "Multimedia" and then "Sound Device") and in the right-side of the window you should be able to locate complete information about the sound card.

If you could put that information on here I will try to locate some drivers for it.

Hope this helped
