- Hi again , thanks for the info can you please tell how to remove the steel which covers the dvd-rom
thanks for your help

- I've tried pulling gently on the dvd-rom but it's well fixed in, there does not appear to be any hidden screws.
Thanks for your help

- The base comes in two halfs one side houses the batt, memory, processor, Hdd the other holds the dvd-rom and I assume the chipset and graphics card, it's this part that that's not moving. One side will lift but not much, and I don't want to force it, i can see into this area and can see that the plate appears to be attached somewhere above the dvd-rom
thanks

- Threr are holes but nothing large enough to house a screw they're about 2 - 4mm in diameter and there are no screw heads visible. It does appear to be fixed at the dvd-rom although not directly to it, as there is the base of hte rom then this steel plate ? hopes this helps

hi there , just removed that metal plate here, you need to pull the cd rom right out, then right on that opening of the cd rom you will find a screw, also, there are four others on the corners of that metal bit to be removedthen, just lift it up, job done, hope this helps..

- Hi there, yes, the dvd rom just pulls out, on mine there was just a push in conector on the back of the rom.

look for any hidden screws, look where the external monitor connects to see if there are any "nut" type screws the motherboard will come out just be patient with it

- have a look underneath the laptop for a hidden screw, or on the top near the steel plate, get a pin and manually eject the tray on the cd/dvd ( you'll see the hole on the font ) and pull gently intill the device slides out

Nov 14, 2008

- is there a release catch underneath the plastic base that is spring loaded ?

Nov 14, 2008

- does the metal plate above the cd/dvd have holes on it? if so get a torch and look beneath the plate for hidden screws

Nov 14, 2008

- have a look on line for the disassembly or sevice manual, i have looked everywhere and had no luck, you may have to contact fujitsu siemens for the service manual and they will probably want paying.
Sorry i couldn't help any further

Good luck
