They use a vacuum flourescent display. Its driven from voltages from a Transformer - and capacitors used to stabalize those voltages. I was told by a tech that the capacitors are notorious for going bad due to the heat that the boards see. I am planning on taking the board out and replacing all the capacitors first. If its not them...then its the transformer. In a dim light I can see that the info is correct ...the flourecent part isn't bad - it has to be the voltages used to emit electrons from the filament, or the voltage on the grid that is used to accelerate them toward the flourescent display.....stay tuned.

Our Oven just started with this problem tonight and we were looking to find out what the fix was. Our oven still works great but the display is just dim. Do you know where to find the Model # for the oven we bought a floor model in 2002 and we did not get an owners manual for it. Any help would be great.

You have to know how to solder.

Clip the 3 caps out carefully on the top side of the board.

Use the soldering iron on the solder side to melt the solder - while GENTLY putting a pulling force on the top side stub thats left with some long nose pliers....pop out each of the stubs . Line up one of the new caps with the holes and hold and push GENTLY. Heat the bottom pads to allow the leads to pop through (one by one)...then add solder to the solder side to reflow the part to the pad...repeat..

I just replaced two of the capacitors and it worked thank God. I couldn't get at the 3rd capacitor with the soldering iron because the display blocks it and I couldn't see how to remove the display unit. We had already begun shopping for a new double oven. This was the last resort. The capacitors were $1.78 apiece at an electronics store. A repairmen quoted us a $780 fix - with him shipping the parts out to be rebuilt because Thermador is out of business and not producing parts anymore. There is a great place in Canada called which will rebuild the timer for you inexpensively ($109) but they also want you to send the Power Relay Board which requires removal of the double oven to get at it. We found that it was much too heavy to consider that solution.

I have a thermadore double oven c302or 272; both are convection recently the upper oven stall after setting and then shows F34 on the controll panel. What does this indicate, and is there an easy fix?

We had this problem a long time ago.. At the very bottom of the lower oven there is a slot.. Maybe 1" tall.. Look in there with a flash light. You will see 2 sail switches.. More then likey one of them is stuck.. The other problem could be the fan motor not running which would cause the same error.. "Fan air flow" But if you are getting flow it is probably the switch,.

Top oven glass in door is broken (thermadore).

Your oven model number is usually located on the rim of one of the oven doors or on the frame oaround a door. Some ranges with bottom drawers have the model number on the frame behind the drawer.

Here is a tip that I wrote about replaceing your glass....

Front panel display dim, can't see the

I see this post has been here for quite some time. Sorry you haven't had an answer yet, while I can't say why, If you still are inquiring, the problem lies in the control and harness assembly. In my professional experience with almost all thermador of this era it's sometimes a bad solder on the control pin connector from the display,(which can be fixed by a proficient soldering person or conversely destroyed by a poor one) a bad transformer integrated onto said control, or other times just a bad harness, you'll likely need a control in any event. When you purchase a control ( # 1051714 for 302-double or 1051712 for 301 single oven models, and around $200US check your local parts depot or service center.) they should have new harness enclosed in the packaging of the control.

I just joined here less than a month ago, so I'm starting to see alot of post's I haven't seen before (there are many) and likely some may never get answered directly, but alot are the same if you search out similarities.

hope this helps.

**I should add this could be a job for a professional tech, who depending on how proficient they are or how the environment is set up, could handle this in 30-45 min or so. It is quite straight forward for one experienced with servicing thermador units. I would suggest you insist on an authorized b/s/h tech, they tend to have more of the update info if any or reworks etc.**

The above (re: hiring a tech) is just my opinion based on my professional experience and there may be opposing opinions, in the end you are the authority.

hope I've been helpful to you,

Good Luck

Oven digital lighted display is dim

You need to replace the C3 capacitor on the control board

You can replace only the C3 - it is 68uF / 35V and you can go to Radio Shack and get their part # 272-1028 - 100uF/35V one. It takes all but 10 minutes to re-solder the new one in place

My clock and temperature display is dim

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.

If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.

The oven has a small button on the left side on top of the control panel. Switch it on or off. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Oven timer and temperature display dim

You need a new display/relay board package they have come up with to solve this problem. The parts generally run about $250, and if you have it repalced by a service company, the total will be a little less than $500. The display is really easy to change by itself, but you must change the realy board with it, and it has about 40 different wires going to it. If you draw a diagram as you take the wires off, and label them carefully, it isn't that hard to do the whole job..just take your time. This is a problem thermadore/dacor ovens have had for some time. If it isn't too old you may try calling thermadore and see if they are willing to at least buy you the parts, as this is a known problem. Good Luck!
