How do you hook a iPod or a MP3 player to this amp without using a radio I'm wanting to put in a side side really don't want to use a radio

Use the rca inputs as if you were using an amp ,but before you connect them make sure the power is off, to prevent popping your speakers. Also you may need to start with your gain low and work your way up.

Playing MP3 Via AUX comes out crackly

Try turning the volume lowwer on the mp3 player and higher on the head unit. The radio is trying to amplify an amplified sound which is why you are getting distortion.

Play Ipod thru JVC CD car stereo using RCA cable?

JVC KD-S731R does not have the option of connecting an ipod. The RCA ports on the rear of the unit are a Line-Out. These RCA's only OUTPUT sound. Not an INPUT RCA that you require. The only other method of using an ipod with this stereo is to purchase an FM-Modulator to connect the ipod. Once purchased, you must connect the antenna wire coming from the vehicle to the module, then you must connect the antenna wire coming from the module to the stereo. The other wire will be connected to either a jack or a ipod specific plug depending on the type of modulator used.

Connecting a car stereo to an amplifier

you have to connect your 4 speakers to 4 speakers output direct to your car stereo no need of amplifier to 4 speaker but speakers should be small not like a woofer, and you have to connect your sub woofer by using amplifier don't connect direct. connect the output of your car stereo (using 2 RCA) to the 2 RCA inputs of amplifier. If u connect your 4 speakers to your amplifier then your car stereo does not support Left Right channel.
You can also connect your laptop or iPod direct to your amplifier.
Good Luck
enjoy music

I have a ford ranger edge 2003, before I pull apart the dash, I want to confirm there is an input plug for the mp3 player, the label on the radio is a mach mp3. thanks, Mike

There will most likely not be an input plug. You will have to buy it on the outside. There will be two kinds. One will be able to plug to the back of the radio if it has the plug available. The other will be an RF input that will connect through the antenna.

What is polarity? & help with hooking up mp3 player to car?!

POLARITY MEANS +/- AND NOT TO REVERSE. FOR EXAMPLE ON A SERIES WIRING SPEAKER SYSTEM YOU REVERSE POLARITY EVERY OTHER SPEAKER SO THE OHM LOAD DOUBLES. OR ON ELECTRIC CARS SERIES WIRING DOUBLES VOLTAGE OUT PUT AFTER EACH BATTERY IS HOOKED UP.... BASICLY POLARITY IS POSITIVE ONE SIDE NEGATIVE THE OTHER MOST CASES YOU DONT WANT TO GET IT BACKWARDS POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE ONLY CONECT SAME+ TO OTHER + UN LESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. WHAT POLAITY HAS TO DO WITH AN MP3 ADAPTER I HAVE NO IDEA...WAIT... DOES IT CHARGE THE MP3 PLAYER??? DOES IT HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE OUTPUT SWITCH?? THATY YOU PLUG IN TO MP3 PLAYER??

KS-U58 JVC Input Adapter Cable

Just installed a 'generic' KS-U57 (same as the KS-U58, but terminates in a RCA, $7 on ebay) that has the same black box--except I cracked the black box open and found that it is empty (only contains soldered connections). I imagine that the authentic JVC is the same.
I have a noise problem (engine static), but it is because my mp3 player is charged by the cigarette lighter--unplugging it eliminates the noise, so as far as I can tell, there is no need for a noise filter inside the KS-U57.
