Re: unable to open any page
I think it's better to have this case isolated, since it's happening regularly, I think. Does it say the computer got disconnected from the wireless or does is still have the right address after it stop going online via wireless? Maybe there is an interference that is causing this issue.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you have a message that acquiring ip address you can Power Cycle the router for 2 minutes then try to connect again or you can try to check if the Network Key that your typing is correct (If the connection is secured). You can check the Network Key of your router by accessing the Wireless Settings Page of your router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security, You can personalize the Network Key if your want. Save the settings then try to connect.
The exact access and setting procedure can be found at Belkins web site.
Disconnect all cables to the router, then, in essence you connect to the router, usually via direct connection and direct your browser to the address specified (somthing like 192.168.1.1) and log into the router. Things that you want to change are ssytem ID, router name, Router access password (RECORD IT!!!!) and set up wireless security. An easy access password would be your home phone or cell phone number. if you make a cryptic password, tape it to the router, as you will forget it when a guest visits and needs access.
Another setting to check is that your router broadcasts it's presence, usually set to yes, but not always, by default.
SAVE settings on EACH PAGE or they do not save, as you go from page to page changing settings.
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router. Is there any computer online using the router. check the IP address on that computer. If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer. router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings. Click Here for more information about the routers and network
what do you mean by internet explore ip??
just your computers IP?? or your routers IP??
normally the IP would be 192.168.0.XX
submask is 255.255.2550
but if you just need to know your ip for now just go to START>RUN and type CMD that will open command prompt ( quick way is windows sign on keyboard + R ) to open RUN
once in CMD you type ipconfig then you'll see your IP adress, subnet mask and default gateway. hope this helps
If you did not configure the Netgear wireless router and changed the default settings and the default password password, then your wireless system is open to anyone hacking into your system and change your wireless router's settings and they can hack into your computers and your Internet connection. The Linksys expander will increase the wireless range to give a wider coverage to your router.
I suggest you reset the Netgear back to the factory defaults (press the pinhole button on the back of the Netgear router until the LEDs flash then release this button,
The configure the Netgear as follows :- To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable. 2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address. 3. Enter the router setup, login and password 4. Change the admin password 5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast. 6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router. 8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings. 9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router. 10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
Open a browser and type http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254; the 2Wire Home page opens.Once you are on the setup page, you can see all your settings.
If you want the wireless key, it is located on the label on bottom of the modem. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
