Anything can be fixed, it's just a question of whether you can

a) realign the display and it's contact wires,
b) replace the backlight,
or
c) get a repair facility to do either of the above without saying "uneconomical to repair".

I am glad to HELP YOU!

Definitely after the impact your device became LESS SENSITIVE on the lower left side.
So as a replacement you will need
FIRST - the digitizer
SECOND - the display [but ONLY if the older display has cracks or other damages].

GOOD LUCK!

Cracked screen, can i get a replacement. LCD display OK.

this same thing just happened to me, called garmin support... since cracking the screen is considered wear and tear damage its not covered in the warranty. to fix it you have to pay to ship it in, then pay about $90 for a flat service charge, then they cover the cost of shipping it back. i was nearly furious when i heard this, the customer service rep wouldnt let me talk to his supervisor to try and work something out since it will cost them all of $5 labor and materials to unscrew the 4 screws pull of the cover replace it and rescrew the screws, pack it in a box and send it back. looks like ill be riding with a cracked screen, i cant justify that.

I've had my garmin for 2 months,I brought it to best - buy to see if they could fix it the screen had black & white blotches . You could hear directions but no road map, the fellow who helped me said...

Well for starters, your device is still under the manufacturer warranty, so I would consider tapping that resource.

Based on what I know of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) The telltale sign of a cracked screen is the blotchy display. Usually cost more to replace the display than to get a new unit.

A craked screen is not normally covered under a manufacturer warranty unless it was damaged under normal use. (hard to prove)

You may have been charged for the cost of an extended warranty by best buy (they usually ask) If so, that would cover theft and user induced damage. Take your receipt back to best buy and see what your options are.

good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

Hello,

you will need to get a replacement screen for you to fix the problem. Once you get the replacement screen, remove the cracked one and replace it.

Take care.

This is either caused by an intermittent LCD display or the lock down flap for the LCD is not putting enough pressure on the LCD flex cable to mate eith the board connector.

It sounds like the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the controller might be seated incorrectly. I would check that.

It sounds like you've broken the LCD screen below the protective outer cover. It will have to be replaced. I don't know if this website can help you.

Nuvi Screen is messed up

Sorry to say but your screen is most likely damaged. You should never store a LCD display in the cold. First, the cold slows down the screen's response time... after all.... LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display.... what does "liquid" do when it's cold? Also, there is a chance that condensation develops inside from your car being cold and then heated when you drive it. Not good for electronic devices.

The screens can be replaced.

Tomtom one 3rd edition

I can fix it for you. Or send it back to TOM TOM. There is a service charge for this either way. But you need to have it checked out regardless because of the drop. It could of damage something inside other than the screen.
