Question about Poulan 12a Elec Blower/Vacuum

1 Answer

Gas cap swells

When I first use the leaf blower, the gas cap goes on easy. If I need to refill the tank, I find that the gas cap has swelled so that I cannot insert it. I have to wait at least 12 hours before the cap will dry up and fit back in its receptacle. So far I have used three of these caps with the same result. Evidently there is a material problrm here. This is on a leaf blower.

Yea its not gettin genough air thru with the gas. make sure your whole airfilter area is cleeean. or if the cap doesnt have small holes in it you should drill small holes two about .5 inch apart, with your smallest drill bit.a little bigger then pinholes, just enough so you can see there is a hole there. trust me iv done this before.

This happened on my older Ryobi as well. Turns out it was the fuel lines. The ethnol in the gas made the lines swell up inside.

I cant get it to start. The primer bulb wont refill with gas

The bulb pulls fuel from the carb into the bulb and back to the tank, if the bulb does not fill it is because there is a fuel blockage, either in the fuel filter in the tank, or the screen in the carb itself.

Primer bulb on Yardboss blower will not **** fuel from tank. Blower will run if primed manually.

remove your carb and clean it and replace diaphram's and needle , they tend to swell up from ethanol that is used in the gas now a days, and the diaphrams turn stiff and won't pump fuel. then put fresh gas in when you are done and also replace fuel lines and filter too., probably primer to because once it is hit with carb clean it just crumbles, good luck

My 130bt blower stops reving after several minuets. Will start but not rev after running fine for 5-7 minuets?

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. The next time it does this... loosen the gas cap a lot momentarily for about 10 seconds then tghten it and attempt a restart. If if starts right away again the gas cap is bad. It is supposed to breathe via a rubber seal in the cap. There are 5 parts in the cap. If it can not breathe the gas tank goes into a vacuum as fuel drains and you will experience fuel starvation.

Also check inside the fuel tank for debris.

130BT (I used the 2001 - 2007) There is also a 2008-2010 choice
and then click on Fuel tank a.s.s.y

I suspect the problem is either going to the the fuel cap or the fuel filter.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Just bought a used leaf blower, homelite, gas leaks out of the gas tank, where the gas tube fits into it.

"top of the gas tank where the gas tube fits into the tank"

I assume you're describing the gas tank cap. if so, the o-ring is missing from the gas tank cap. You can find those at hardware stores.
