Sounds like your advent pc may not be on the same level so to speak.

try making sure that your advent pc isn't daffy.

unplug other computers off your router, then see if you see it.
check your wireless settings make sure everything matches.
shut down wireless on advent pc and reboot it, then activate wireless
attempt to rename the wireless network, could be that the advent pc is ignoring it for some reason.
lemme know

Check the router settings, if the router is set to only use 802.11N wireless it won't pick up a computer that is using 802.11G or 802.11B wireless.

Good luck

You need to have your access codes for the router, and yes, most laptops have a way to turn off the wireless, a switch usually.

Belkin N+N storage router doesn't work wirelessly

Hi, I had something like that with my Belkin Router N+N with USB F6D6230-4 V1, only I had a configuration wit a wired XP pc, Wireless XP and Wireless Vista. With both XP pc’s it was really plug and play, but with the Vista pc I had some problems to access the on the router connected USB drive. The Vista pc was connected to the network, and had Inet access. Other shared (network) drives were accessible on the Vista pc.

The first thing I tried was if I could access the drive trough its IP address, (\\routerIP in my case \\192.168.2.1), and I did get a question for a username and password. The only thing is that I tried all the regular names like Admin, Administrator, and so on, with my password but I did not get access.
On the internet there was no help to find for this model router on the Belkin websites (diverent country’s), the data on the Belkin websites is out of date, there is no support to find for new models. ………. So finely I did took the phone and did call the support desk…

Solution to my problem:
The problem seems to be in the Belkin storage manager program, that program works not correct under Vista. When I enter the routers IP and use the username “guest” without a password, it get access to it from my Vista pc. The follow thing I did was press the right mouse button on the drive, and press on “make connection” So..

\\RouterIP
Username : guest
Password : none

Hope, that this is also the solution to your problem.

Problem with downloading router driver/firmware

You don't need software for the router. Is your wireless encrypted or open? Just view avaiable networks with your xp machine and choose your network to connect to. If you do have an encrypted signal use the vista machine and type in the ip address to the router in your browser window. I think belkins router ip is 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 Hope this helps, let me know

Belkin Wireless Router/HP Laptop - wireless security problem

This is an unusual problem. It's interesting that you can connect without encryption. A few thoughts, which you may well have considered already:

1) Does this happen even when you deliberately disconnect from the network, and reconnect?

2) The network key/passphrase is case sensitive; it is very easy to make a small slip with this, or some other tiny detail, when entering the key;

3) Is there the slightest chance your router has the same SSID (name) as a neighbour's? ....Sorry if this seems a daft question, but it is something to consider...

Trying to connect between cable pc xp edition and new dell vista laptop

the SSID is only the name which your connection is called.
If you have security enabled, you will need to type in the passkey when asked.

First go to internet explorer open it and go to tools>connections tab, then tick 'never dial a connection' and close I. Explorer.

go to control panel>network connections>right click on your wireless connection icon, then go to the TCP/IP line, highlight it, click properties, then select 'Obtain IP address automatically.

Select Ok, then close window, go to internet explorer, then open it up and you may need to click refresh a few times ,but should connect

F5D7230-4 Router won't support >1 wired ethernet connections

My first suggestion would be to shutdown the modem, router, and XP PCs. Then power up the modem, router, then PCs (in that order) pausing about 20 seconds between powering each unit.
Good luck.
