You are going to need the laser optics cleaned. Common problem. Usually affects one color more than others but light print on one side is a symptom of dirty laser optics. The laser units have to be removed before cleaning and this requires disassembly of the printer.
Check your cartridge first and take a look if it is not running out of ink,try replacing it with a new one then on your printer maintenance do head cleaning, then print nozzle check to see which color has a problem,if it doesn't change try to look for chemical solution that are being use to clean print head. soak the print head, dont touch the head with your bare hands or anything hard its sensitive.
Well I got good news and bad news for you. The good news first, this problem is common and is fixable. It has to do with aligning the page sensors and the DRUM. Now for the bad news, remember what you said DELL told you? "They said buy a new printer" guess what, they were not kidding, the work involved with adjusting the sensors and the DRUM, will cost you the price of the printer alone in labor. It is a tedious job and requires adjusting three systems in unison. I hate to tell you this but, DELL was correct, but if you don't think so, try to shop around for a repair shop to work on the problem, but first get an estimate.
To solve the faded prints you need to clean the printhead twice by going to the software and click the "?" mark icon on the upper right corner of the software window and then under General Links select Maintenance then choose Clean Printhead - do it at least thrice to unclog the printhead system. Then try making prints... If still cannot solve call Kodak Technical Support.
Is it pulling through only on the right? Or left? Either way [sounds like] it needs taking apart to put the paper feeder cogs back inline. To the right would suggest the easier option of the bar which is visible from where the paper exits has dislodged and the cogs sit on the left hand side of it. As the paper feeds through it's unlikely the other option as those cogs are what feeds the paper through but they are intricate so it can't be ruled out. Not much fun if you don't like doing mechanical maintenance I guess!
I was able to fix it by taking off the top of the printer. This involved taking off 4 screws on the top of the printer. I then had to disconnect the wires going to the control panel by unhooking them from the right side. I then located a thin rectangular box which I'm assuming houses the laser. I removed this with 4 more screws and turned it over. There was a little metal flap that I moved back and below was the mirror the lasers shoot on before going onto the toner.
In the same spot where I was having fading, I noticed a lot of toner on the mirror, so I cleaned it of, put it back together, and the fading was gone.
This was after I tried a new toner and maintenance kit.
I have a SCX-4100 Samsung, replaced the tonger cartridge, it was working fine for a few hundred sheets of printing, but after that, the left side of the page was printed very light, faded. If I run the "Clean Drum", it will print a litter better, but still faded. What can I do to correct this problem? Thank you TT
