Toshiba Notebook L315 Headphone Jack Problems

I have a very similar problem to http://www.fixya.com/support/t395966-toshiba_satellite_laptop (computer recognises external speakers/headphones with sound check but continues to play other media through internal speakers even when headphones are plugged in) except that I have bought this laptop in China and this model seems specific to China, which is causing problems when I look for the correct driver updates at:

http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

or

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download

I also can't seem to find the Short Model No. but I have a feeling it's PSMEDQ.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help. I'm confused as to why the computer will play sound check through the external speakers but nothing else will.

Toshiba A10 headphone jack problem

I think you are on the right track, if the headphone jack is worn and shorting out itll kill the speakers because it thinks headphones are plgged in, ebay would be a good start for parts, maybe even call toshiba and speak to their tech support.

Toshiba satellite laptop

Before going to any shops, here is a suggestion that can't hurt anything.
Go to the Control Panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices. On the Volume tab at the bottom, you will see "Speaker Settings". Click on the Advanced button. Change that setting to "Stereo headphones". You should hear the sound only through the headphones then.
