JVC RX-1028V 5.1 Channels Receiver

Overload

posted by greenman on Nov 19, 2006

For the first time, and without warning, my JVC RX-1028V suddenly switched off and displayed the message OVERLOAD. At the time, it was receiving Dolby Digital input over the digital fiber optic connection from a new (four-week old) satellite receiver. And get this, it wasn't even hot to the touch. Volume was a moderate 50. Connections hadn't changed, but it had been moved earlier that day (gently) onto a new media stand.

Are solders becoming old and brittle? It is used daily when watching TV or listening to satellite radio, but is turned off between times.

Any input would be appreciated.
