Question about Panasonic Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Im fixing a Panasonic NV SD 570 AM vcr . The problem was a jammed cassette tape and I changed the Left guide pole arm guide which had some teeth broken. Now when I want to put the cassette in it doesn't go in,I can sense that the cam motor isn't turning , but if I load it from an outside motor it ejects out normally but still then th ehead cylinder isn't turning , it turns a little left and a little to the right. i don't know if it is from the mode switch because I know that is is alligned in the right manner since it has a notch on it and it can only get in a single position on the main cam gear. thanks in advance.

Tv is starting to blur....especially letters and cable guide menu's. try resetting convergence and it doesnt help. Tv is what 10 years old. Is this a cheap fix?

It is depending on if you can do it yourself.

THE two STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE chips this model uses need to both be replaced---under 30 dollars total cost depending on where you buy them.

I have instructions for this repair in the model.

Let me know and I will post them here for you.

Won't eject tape.

I had a Sony SLV-N60 VCR that wouldn't eject the tape.

After removing a few large and obvious screws, the I took off the cover. Inside, on one of the white plastic arms (not really an arm, but a moving part), there was a piece of junk, looked like part of a popcorn hull or something. I took that out, and for good measure, vacuumed out the rest of the chassis. The lubrication looked good, so I left it alone.

After doing that, the tape ejected perfectly. I put the cover back on, and it still works.

Sound but no picture

Most likely the VCR needs a head cleaning. This is common when playing older or rented tapes as the oxide recording surface can flake off and clog the video heads. You can try a head cleaning cassette. Make sure to get a wet-type cassette which you moisten with the included cleaning fluid.

Unfortunately this is not always successful for severely clogged heads. It may be necessary to remove the cover and clean the heads with a chamois cleaning swab moistened with head cleaner. Hold the swab flat against the round drum that holds the heads and move the drum back and forth while holding the swab steady. Repeat this for each of the heads. The heads are fragile and can be damaged by incorrect cleaning, so you might want to see what a shop in your area charges. (The shop I worked in used to charge $20, but that was several years ago.)

There's also the chance there's been head failure or some other problem has developed, but dirty heads are very common.

I have a Panasonic TV witch is a combination Video and TV set. I am having a problem with the sound on my tape playbacks. I have tried cleaning the head, changing tapes and nothing is working. There is no...

Is this a HiFi stereo vcr? When you cleaned the heads, did you only do the heads on the rotating cylinder or only the fixed tracking/audio heads between the cylinder and the pich roller?

Does a prerecorded tape ( not a self recorded from that machine play ok?

HiFi vcrs default to the audio head(s) on the tracking/audio head if the HiFi heads on the rotating cylinder are dirty or damaged.

If a prerecorded tap palys fine, then the erase head circuit has failed.

If sound is weak and warbles, worse on SLP than SP, a weak VCR power supply.

Am unable to get tape in VCR/combo

sir,
If you unplugged it with a tape inside that procedure has probably messed up the internal cpu or integrated circuit that controls the functions of the set.

So, it must be reset and restored to its factory settings. To do this merely unplug the power cord and leave it unplugged for at least 4 hours. It takes this long to totally discharge all the memory cells inside the unit. Then power it up again and check it out.

After the reset above if it still does not eject the tape there may be a mechanical problem. For this there are all sorts of things you can try. I refer you to www.fixer.com which has a database of things you can do to get a stuck tape out and get the tape mechanism working again.

From this site, for example, you will find a section on Sylvania vcrs that has suggestions on removing a tape. You can find it at:

Thank You
