It is either your DVD drive which is defective or the DVD you are using. Try to check if the lens of your DVD drive is clean. If dirty, clean with 1% alcohol (cotton buds dabbed with the solution). Also check your DVD for scratches that may prevent you from reading it. Also, you may try your DVD in other computers. If it works, then most likely your DVD drive is defective.

How to use dvd burner

If your system came with a DVD burner, suitable disc burning software (Nero or Roxio are common) should have been pre-installed. Run the burning program and look at its "help" screens, or visit the company's website, for information on using the program.

If you've just put a DVD burner in a system that only had a CD burner, you should install new burning software. The drive may have come bundled with a program. If it didn't, CDBurnerXP or InfraRecorder are good basic programs, and both are free.

If you want to be able to author video DVDs with menus, you'll need other software. DVDFlick is a free authoring program that works very well.

Hope this will help get you going. Thanks for using Fixya!

Try rebooting...if that was done already, try cleaning the disk by gently wiping with a non abrasive cloth from the center out around the dvd. If your drive can play other dvd's then it may just be a fluke. Does it spin when the dvd is in the drive?

My Acer T180-EA381B desktop won't burn dvd's over

The DVD Drive iteself may be bad. After installing/reinstalling the drivers, there are only two things left to check and that is if the driver was installed correctly (device manager- check to see if there is a "?" mark next to the DVD drive) or you can buy another drive and install. A new drive should take cae of your issue.

cd/dvd drives are cheep, I would suggest in device manager uninstall device driver and re-install them with scan for new hardware. If thats not working goto ebay and get a cd/rw dvd reader try to pay a max of $20.00 you should find many in that price range.. and when re-installing make sure the jumper is set to the same as the one you currently have..

DVD/Cd Burner won't run programs.

All you need to do is that put the CD in the CD/DVD drive that you have access and not properly closed. For example here is the situation. I put a cd installer with a file named in the cd setup.exe and it is located in drive D: i access the file setup.exe and I run it or install.. then I decided not to install the programs.. what I did is that is did not cancel the installation but rather I immediately open my cd/dvd drive and get the cd..

What are going to happen? the installation is in the process and I did not cancel the installation properly. In the installation logs of the windows it still have to install the programs but it cannot find the file setup.exe that is located in the Drive D:.

Try to put a cd in your cd/dvd drive with file named setupexe on the cd.. that will solve your problems. TY
