You can try to restore it to an earlier time before you started adjusted the registration files. Go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools> system restore and choose a date before you started adjusting the files. The computer will restore and reboot. If this does not help you resolve the regedit.exe problem then I suggest booting from cd rom and selecting Repair. This will restore any windows files that has been corrupted or deleted.

I hope this helps

I need to cancel kindle books account only

Dear Joyce,

You posted this problem in the "Operating Systems" area of Fixya. Do this mean that you are using the Kindle application to read your books on the PC? Or do you actually use a Kindle device to read them?

If you are using a device, could you please indicate which model do you have, so we can check their manuals in order to better answer you?

For instance, in my Kindle 3 (the one with the keyboard), I have to click on "Home", then on "Menu" then select "Settings". There, I can deregister the Kindle from my account at Amazon.

I will be looking forward for your answer.

Regards,

Miguel L. Martins

Java

If you don't already know how to program then i wouldn't start with Java but maybe with Visual Basic. Once you have a good grasp of Basic then you can move onto Java.

If you already know how to program in another language, especially C++ then you will find java to be quite familiar.

In any case your first step would be to go to yoru local book store and buy a book or two. Read through the book while at your computer and try all the examples.

For Visual Basic there are books like this: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Visual-Basic-2008-Step/dp/0735625379/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519837&sr=8-1 or http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Microsoft-Visual-Basic-Guides/dp/0470191341/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519932&sr=8-6 or http://www.amazon.com/Teach-Yourself-Visual-Basic-Hours/dp/0672329840/ref=pd_bbs_sr_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519932&sr=8-9

For Java you may want to check out: http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-Java-Kathy-Sierra/dp/0596009208/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-1 or http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Programming-Java-Dummies-Computer/dp/0764588745/ref=pd_bbs_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-7 or http://www.amazon.com/Sams-Teach-Yourself-Java-Days/dp/0672329433/ref=pd_bbs_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-9

Regedit and control panel

Open your registry and find the key below. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'NoControlPanel' set the value to equal '1' to enable the restriction. Exit your registry, you may need to restart for the changes to take effect.

Folder options

This problem is most commonly caused by a virus called "Brontok". Brontok virus will make some changes to the system restrictions in order to hide itself from easy detection and also from easy cleaning. Here's a free tool called Remove Restrictions Tool (RRT) which is able to re-enables all what the virus had previously disabled, and gives you back the control over your own computer.ffc6f26.png
Note:run this program in safe mode
