Dirtdog,

I'm sorry to tell you, but if you want a high end Videocard in your system, you will likely need to replace your power supply.

Any person who knows much about computer Modding/Gaming will tell you if you want a PC with a modern Videocard, you will need at least a 400W Power Supply Unit,

I like you bought an ACER desktop that had onboard video in my case it was Geforce 6100. Then I bought a BFG 9600GT. Only to find my PC freezing on boot up.

The problem went away son as I upgraded to a 465W PSU. But now my System is running awesome graphics and gets a 4.8 out of 5 on Vistas 3D card performance.

Hope this helps you
Dave

My acer aspire m3641 just shows black screen

Is the computer booting? Fans spin? LED's blink? Sound? Have you tried another monitor? If so, check and reseat ALL cables. The specs indicate you have Integrated NVidia 7050 Graphics Adapter. You may need a aftermarket PCIe x16 Graphics Card to install in a open slot. Verify the cables are good and the monitor works on another computer first.

Nvidia boot agent ?

I would state use the Restoration Disk, and perform a Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)
This will repair the Nvidia settings for YOUR computer.

But more than likely Acer did not provide a Restoration Disk, and it is my understanding it may be hard to get a hold of. (Acer Support)

This makes me think you have installed a new Nvidia graphics card, since specifications indicate it comes with Integrated Graphics that is Nvidia GeForce 7050.

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/acer-aspire-m1641-u1521a/4507-3118_7-33234219.html

{Integrated Graphics is also referred as OnBoard Graphics.
ON the motherBOARD. The graphics chipset (GPU) is soldered to the motherboard, and Not to a removable graphics adapter card,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

IF SO, the software (Installation disk) is installed FIRST, then the graphics card is physically installed.

IF not you get a driver conflict.

When a device is installed on a computer, (Such as a graphics card), Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find matching suitable drivers.

If THE drivers are not there, Windows will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of generic drivers.
This won't do.

Windows: "Which drivers do I use? These or THESE?"

[Drivers are small pieces of software, that allow the Operating System to 'communicate' with a device ]

Is this what you did? Install the graphics card, THEN use the graphics card's installation disk?

Post back in a Comment.

I have a acer aspire m1640, with the motherboard fails, if i can not fix it, what motherboard, acer apart, can i mount it? thank you

There are a few options you have on this, but if you want to maintain full compatibility with your current hardware, then you must purchase a motherboard that supports DDR2 533/667 MHz SDRAM since that is what comes standard in Acer Aspire M1640 Desktops.
A few options that would be similar to stock motherboard would be:
Foxconn G31MXP-K I7 or Biostar TForce TG31-A7
Those motherboards have similar specs to the stock motherboard and you can take a look at the specs of the Acer Aspire M1640 from this link below:
http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireM1640/AspireM1640sp2.shtml
Both those motherboards I have linked you too are microATX boards, which should fit fine in your case which may be a standard ATX case.
If you are willing to upgrade your ram, then your options open up to any motherboard that supports the Intel Pentium Dual Core processor. Since the stock motherboard also provides onboard video, chances are you don't have a video card plugged into your motherboard (unless you've upgraded that yourself) which means you should also look for a motherboard that provides onboard video so you don't have to purchase a video card.

Good luck!

Have a emachine et1810 and want to disable the onboard video

Generally this is done in the BIOS. When you turn the system on, you will see a black screen with a line at the bottom to hit ESC, DEL or some other button to enter setup. You may have to start several times before you get it right.

Once in the BIOS you can turn the internal Video off. (Integrated NVIDIA® GeForce® 7050) This system is old and is not worth investing in a new video card. I'd consider a new system.

Acer m1640 factory restore

Format the drive, then install an operating system such as xp, or windows 7 .... it should install most of the correct drivers. You may have to go to the manufactures website to find the exact drivers for the video and sound cards., but that should pretty much return it to factory settings. If you are really picky and have the bucks, you can contact ACER for the original disks.

Onboard graphics card for my X3200 disabled

No need to break the seal on the box -- there's nothing to jumper or switch inside there anyway.

Some video card/motherboard combos will let you do this, others force you to choose one or the other, but here's how you find out.

Right-click on "My Computer" and select "manage" This will bring up Computer Management
On the left side of the Computer Management window, find Device Manager and click on it.
Now, on the right side, look for Display Adapters, and expand it. There should be an entry for your GT120 and hopefully another entry for your onboard video. Right-click the onboard video device, and one option should be "Enable"
If you don't see this option, it's because your onboard video can't work at the same time as the GT120.

Let me know how it goes! Rate me if it works, comment back if it doesn't work and I'll see what else I can do.

Onboard VGA port disabled, in Vista

You should try to disable it in the hardware list.

E-machines have an odd bios where not all the functions of the motherboard are available to the user.

If you can find the make and model of your board there is a good chance you can find the PROPER bios for it.

Emachines use motherboards from a variety of regular motherboard suppliers

My older e-machine has a hacked bios so that I can alter ALL the settings.

How to disable onboard (Nivida 6100) video on a Acer Aspire E380 so I can install a EVGA 8800GTS and 650w PS.

Shane,

First Connect your Monitor cable to the onboard connector.

Then boot your PC
After the Acer logo disappears press <Delete> on your keyboard to enter BIOS
From there you should be able to find the option to change the default Videocard to PCIE

press <F10> to save and exit
Shutdown PC
Switch Cable to Nvidia 8800GT and reboot
You should now be able to finish installing your new Vid Card

Hope this helps
Dave
