Question about HP Compaq FS7600 17" CRT Monitor
My HP Compaq FS7600 went on the blink (bought 1 year ago) but makes a clicking noise. I tried it on another PC ...same problem. Power light is on but blank screen. Is it worth trying to fix? Rich
It happened that to me last year. After 2 weeks of cracking sound symptoms, my monitor begun to blackout - no video signal but the indicator light is still available. I checked it inside using my tester, one of its transistor was burned-out. I tried to replace it and its working up to now. Possible cause of this is probably overuse of monitor without proper ventilation & cooling causing electronic components to overheat. Since I will not be able to actually check your monitor, the best solution for this is bring your monitor to a qualified TV/CRT technician in your area for proper diagnosis. He's the right expert and the second opinion to that kind of problem.

I just shook the monitor a bit and after some banging it started up...
This could support an overheating problem b/c shaking would cool it or there could be some loose component inside
