Question about GE ZDBR240PBS Stainless Steel Beverage Cooler

GE Monogram Bev Center no longer cooling

My Monogram ZDBR240PBS no longer cools. It doesn't sound like the motor is coming on anymore either. Is it common for the motors or thermostats to go out? I know that it has power as the light still comes on when I open the door. Should I have it repaired or just replace? Any idea of worst and best case cost to repair? Darn thing cost me $1000 so I'd hate to dump it. Thanks for your help!!!

So I took off the back cover and indeed the compressor is running as well as the fan. The warranty on the closed system is 5 years and just out of warranty as it was bought in 2003. Is it typical for these systems to leak? Would the compressor run if it was broken? I'll take it over to a technician tomorrow. Thanks for your help and suggestions!!

Depend how old it is, Monogram does have a better warranty then regular appliances, sounds like it may have a bad power supply board in the back. It may have a compressor problem but the circut board  is more likely. It would probably be worth  having a GE tech to come and give you an estimate a the very least. Only because if you purchase the new board and install it, most places will not accept returns on electronic parts. Hope this helped.

check to make sure the rad coolant level is correct, cooling fan is coming on, if not you can run a jumper wires to in place of the plug that connects to the fan motor if the motor doesn`t work replace fan motor then it could be a bad thermostat, if so change stat. next thing that can cause this is a blown head gasket which you can have tested to verify before changing.

The most common thing that happens is the cooling fan stops working, and must be repaired. I've had two of these vehicles, and have another now. Have someone check whether the cooling fan is coming on when the gauge passes half way up. It should also run even when the engine is off, if the radiator is still overheated. The two most common problems are a bad fan motor or a bad sending unit ( that part screws into the motor block.)
Second most common is a plugged up radiator. Third is a stuck thermostat.
Be blessed.

Model# gsh22kgmcbb. everything thawing out.coil was covered in dust, cleaned as best i could. fan motor running kind of slow,i think.

Hi,

Are you talking about the Condenser Fan at the back of the fridge next to Motor/Compressor.

If that is running slow it means the fan motor bearings and lubricant inside the fan motor has turned into a sludge which is a common problem. Need to replace the condenser fan motor. You can put a normal household fan behind the fridge to cool the compressor in the meantime.

No thermostat over heated and blew a hole in radiator, could the reason for that be no water flow in pump?

you should check the water pump to be sure its flowing, But removing the thermostat makes it so the motor doesn't have time to properly cool the fluid needed to cool the motor, if it gets hot enough to boil and they do,, damaging the radiator could very easily happen

When I flip the on switch on the wall bathroom fan does not come on anymore.

Most likely the fan motor has quit which is the most common problem. You can take the front grille off the wall and the motor will come off with just one or two screws. Hopefully, it will have a plug on it that you can just unplug. Take the motor off, unplug it, and take it to a regular wall socket and plug it up in to the socket and see if it runs. It it doesn't run you know its the motor, if it does run you more than likely have a bad switch. Some of those motors you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. Other times you have to replacae the whole exhaust fan.

GE Monogram ZISS480DRSS - freezer and refrigerator both quit cooling. I had a mostly plugged condenser coil - cleaned it & still no cooling. What would be the likely component failure path to check?

replace the ptc overload relay on the compressor as this supplies power to the compressor,it may sound like the compressor is operating, but possibly only on the start windings and will be very warm to the touch,if so replace it soon so as not to burn out the compressor motor windings

Hi. The most common failure for this make refrigerator is a bad evaporator fan motor. You should feel air coming out of the diffuser in your freezer. If not, either the fan motor is bad or you have alot of frost build up on the evaporator. You would see alot of frost on the back wall of the freezer where the evaporator coil is located. If this is the case, most likely the defrost bimetal thermostat. But if no frost, the evaporator fan motor is most common and likely to be your problem. Also check and make sure your compressor is running. Compressor failure is common on this make refrigerator. Visit me on Ebay username: themackshack. Good luck! Mack
