Question about Dell W3706MC 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Just out of warranty Dell TV W3706MC,two years old

When I turn on the TV the blue Dell name that appears on the screen is not a solid DELL name, there is white scratch drag marks on the name, then as the picture starts to appear little squares appear (white & Black)all across the TV screen with the picture in the background for about 30 seconds, then the squares clear up the picture appears but is distorted,----by distorted I mean the picture looks like it is plastic looking with shadows and some double imaging, this as been going on for the last couple of months,it does correct itself after about a hour or so,and stays a great picture for as long as the TV stays on,I have had all cable connections checked, all ok, I have done all factory reboots done no luck or improvement.the sound is perfect no problems.
Dell have no idea, and as it is out of warranty they do not want to know, and tell me to get outside help,Dell do tell me that this TV was built with different parts Phillips,Sanyo and Toshiba? so they tell me, and no TV repair shop in My town of Abbotsford BC will touch it..
Please any advise is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad video board. No easy way to fix a bad video board. It needs to be replaced. That is why the repair shops will not fix it; they do not stock video boards for all models. And it is a pain to track one down all of a sudden. Once a warranty is up, you are running on bonus time. Electrical components have a definite lifespan. It is possible to recover some money by selling it "as-is" online somewhere. You could get 200-400 for it broken, pretty easy I suppose.

Stuck at Dell splash screen.

Hello, I have pulled out hair over similar problems. You either have an internal problem inside of the TV or you are losing your source for the picture.

These sets usually have a a Menu which tells the TV to go to a certain input socket for its feeding signal. If you have a bad cable or USB plug, the TV loses its feed and displays the Base Dell Logo.

This feed can be a HDMI multiple wire, or if you have a tapeplayer, CD deck, or Computer feed, they may be toggled separately. On some of my older equipment, I need to switch the TV ports through my Remote to get the appropriate appliance to show on my TV screen.

Depending on your Warranty, you may want to call Service. Sometimes dust can cross circuit the electronics and cause the problem you have. The cable feed wire can also be shorting and causing a loss of signal. Check you cable connections.

i just fixed this same problem on same model - its the main board on the back of the tv - find the part number off of the main board (the board with all of the av input jacks) replace it and that will solve your problem.

Screen goes blue, software pop ups, stripe screen and keys do not work. Should I send itback to Dell? Inspiron laptop only 3 years old.

Hi,

The laptop will out of warranty unless you have taken our extended warranty that still covers it.

If you send it to Dell out of warranty you will end up paying a substantial amount of money to have the laptop repaired.

Saying that if you do send it back to dell then there will be more warranty added to the laptop just in case it goes again but you'll have to check that out with Dell first.

Regards.

My dell studio 1558 has not been working since morning. when i turn on the system only a white screen with few coloured lines are appearing.. mine is still 2 months old.. can you help me with this...

If the system is 2 months old, your best bet is Dell Tech Support as the system should be under warranty. If you hold the D Key and press the power button this should run the LCD BIST and you should get 4 solid colored screens. If you don't the LCD is bad. If you do, then the issue is likely the video card.
