Ok.. Thats not good.. You will have to replace the display. The panel is completely screwed. You can get a replacement LCD screen for about 100$.
Here is the replacement procedure..

You have only the one chance to fix this problem because the dispaly is failing, open the latop, disconnect the dispay plug and reconnect it, if its still the same don't worry, all you have to do is connect an external monitor to the laptop if you need your files straight away, then look at having the inverter repaired on the laptop display

if its the same on the external monitor, then un-install and then re-install the graphic drivers in device manager, reboot the laptop and hope the problem is resolved, if it isn't the graphics card is faulty, which could possibly mean a new laptop, the only other thing that may work is a bios update, you can get this on the dell support website

    good luck with it

Hi Chad,

It sounds like it could be 1 of 2 issues either the memory or your hard drive may be failing.

Please do the following:

Turn on the computer. When the DELL logo appears, press immediately. If you wait too long and the Microsoft Windows logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again.

When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press .

Please choose the express test and post the results.

Fuzzy line going right down right side of Sony Laptop VGN-CS26g

The pixels inside of the LCD are going bad. Your screen is going to need to be replaced. When pixels in screens go bad it usually turns colors or gets fuzzy after it heats up.

I,ve a dell lat d600,when i powered up today the screen is all flickery, colours are all wrong, theres a square shading around the mouse icon, any help!

Have you tried to change the resolution. Right click on the desktop in an empty area and scroll down to properties, change resolution, click apply and ok. If this doesn't work, one of your ram modules may have come loose in its socket. Turn the laptop off, open the bay that contains the ram sticks and re-seat both sticks. See if that works

Dell D600

Sounds like a driver might have gone AWOL. Can you go into safe mode? Usually by pressing F8 after the Dell logo you will be prompted to go into safe mode.

Go insto safe mode and once inside restart the computer. This will repair anything that may have shutdown improperly.

If you can, also change the resolution to the least available, normally 800x600. Once you get back into the "normal" session, you can set it to your liking.

See if this works for you.

Dell Latitude D600 won't go past the Dell startup screen

Tap the f7 or f8 key, when you turn it on, it should go into safe mode, Go into start programs, accesories, tools, and restore, select restore, select a date closest to today and let it go through the restore pocess, if it suceeds and starts up, rub a good virus program right away, it sounds like you picked up a virus or trojen, just be patient and it shoul be ok, if it won't go into safe mode, let me know, that will require more work. And before you do anything, unplug, remove the battery for a few minutes and replace, try it and if it still won't run, do the above, thanks ,GYM

It sounds like a LCD backlight problem. Bring it to an authorized repair shop.

Display not working properly

You should be able to plug in an external (Desktop type) monitor . Look for a connector on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, you have pretty much diagnosed that you have a LCD problem.
