Sounds like a bad signal. Realign your satellite until you get a better signal.

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. Select "Wide/Widescreen" to stretch the on-screen image to fit the screen, or select "Panoramic/Panorama" to stretch the sides of the onscreen image to fit the screen (recommended).<br /> </li></ol>

Haier tv I am hooked into Bell Expressvu. HD receiver and I can't get the picture to expand to the entire tv screen. i can only find HD Normal and it stays in a small screen view.

It might be necessary to change the resolution/Aspect Ratio (Screen Size) settings on both your HD Receiver and your TV.
I don't have Bell Satellite but I do remember having the same issue setting up my friends HD TV and Bell Satellite TV Receiver.

Sony lcd tv picture freezes

I saw the solution posted to your problem talking about the picture freeze feature on Sony TVs. I presume you're not touching a button on the remote when your picture is doing this.

Normally when a picture freezes it isn't the TV but the signal the TV is receiving from whatever source it's hooked up to. If you have digital cable and the company is having any type of technical difficulties with their signal, it can cause the picture to freeze. If you've ever watched TV with someone who has Dish or DirecTV while a storm was over-head, you may have seen it happen to their picture. However, if you're able to rule out the cable equipment and the cable company as being the problem, then there is something wrong with your TV. If your TV has this picture freeze feature the other guy was talking about, it's possible the feature is now malfunctioning . Whatever the case, if it's the TV the only troubleshooting you can try is to unplug the unit for 30 minutes. If that doesn't fix the issue, the TV likely needs to be serviced. Follow the link below and it will take you to Sony's esupport page. There you will find a phone number you can call, or you can chat with someone online regarding your particular issue. Good Luck!

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this informationallows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed fromhere. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned agood rating from you today.

Screen shuts off. Power lite blinks. Aquos 42"

Hi,

Hope you have the correct resolution selected:

HD View Modes: When viewing an HD program you can select the following 4 viewing modes.
  • Stretch: suitable for viewing 1.78:1 DVDs. When viewing 1.85:1 DVDs, this mode will show thin black bands at top and bottom of the screen.
  • Dot by Dot (1080i/p only): detects the resolution of the signal and displays an image with the same number of pixels on the screen. When a 720p signal is being input, the image will be delivered in full screen.
  • Smart Stretch: suitable for stretching 4:3 programs to fill the screen.
  • Zoom: suitable for viewing wide-screen 2.35:1 aspect-ratio programs in full screen.
PC View Modes: You can connect the TV to your PC through the HDMI inputs to use the TV as a monitor. The following view modes are available in PC mode.
  • 4:3 Input Signal: You can select between Normal, Zoom, Stretch, or Dot by Dot.
  • 16:9 Input Signal: You can select between Stretch or Dot by Dot.
Also verify if you have set auto timer to 30 mins or so thats why the TV shuts down after a particular time.

Thanks

26" Philips HD ready tv (LCD)

Nothing much you can do. The soft plastic will get worse if you try anything.

The screen could be replaced, but would cost more than the TV.
