Dell Dimension E510 Powers Up, Then Crashes

My Dell Dimension E510 won't power up with the on/off switch. When I unplug for 30 to 60 seconds, then plug it back up, the CPU comes on for about 2 seconds, then turns back off. The monitor only shows a rev number.

I had it checked out by a local reputable computer shop. They said it was the motherboard. Could still be the processor, but due to the cost of a motherboard and processor along with the fact that it seems the Dell E510 appears to have more than its share of problems, I've decided to replace it rather than repair it. Thanks for your help.

It's the processor or power supply. I cant be sure of which without checking it.

Check the fan over the processor heat sink to make sure its working cause it could mean that the processor is overheating If the fan turns and then it cuts off this could meant that the processor is dead. or the bios is corrupted. Try flashing the bios, there is a battery on the main boad, remove it. unplug the system first... when the battery is out press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then release. put the battery back in and try to turn it on..

If that fails then try a new power supply or one from another system to to check if the power supply is fine. YOu can aslo bridge the green and any black wire from the power supply's mainboard connector to see if the power supply runs. If all this fails then you may need to replace your processor,, I';d also recommend changing the power supply as well.

Blinking amber light and wont boot up.

if the power button was blinking amber, unplug your tower, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute, to use any excess power stored in the capassitors in the pc. this was told to me by a dell tech, it is a small issue with the 3100=E310, and 5150=E510 Dimension desktops

Dell E510 has a solid amber light, no light codes or sound codes. Unit powers up but will not boot. I unplugged and replugged all the wires to no avail. Does anyone have a clue as to why?

Contact dell technical support for a replacement motherboard. If I remember correctly this model had a recall due to faulty capicitors and should be replaced even if you are not under the service agreement still.

Computer won't turn on

A flashing yellow power LED is an indication of a failure in the power supply. If under warranty, Dell should be replacing it. If out of warranty, then a 400/450 Watt ATX power supply should resolve the issue.

Dell dimension e510 won't turn on

Unplug the power cable from the power supply in your computer and reinsert it. If you still have nothing, most likely a dead power supply.
