Which video files will Compaq DVD Burner burn to a DVD

A dvd burner will burn anything you tell it to burn, the things is you need certain programs to see what the extension was that you burnt.

EX- if you burn a DIVX file, windows media player won't see it, but it will see a WMP file.

The most important thing is the burning software, makes it easy to burn boot, ISO files, video.

But like I said, a DVD burner will burn anything you tell it to burn.

Has my Acer Aspire T180-R97Z got DVD burning facilities? It can play DVD's. Thank you, Susan-Jane.

Yes, it has. You can't view DVD's because for that you need specialized codecs or media players.
To view DVD's install VLC -   http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
To burn dvd disks that can be played on a regular dvd player you need to programs: one to convert your video file - i use
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Encoders-Converter-DIVX-Related/Quick-Media-Converter.shtml
-  to the dvd format and any burning software - i use

Divx & Codec for Vista

-Unfortunately Windows media player is only loaded with a few codecs for video so you will need a codec pack found HERE

-just click Direct link and download and install the codec pack. Now you should be able to play 99.8 percent of video files in any format in WMP.

-As for myself, I swear by VLC media player as no additional codecs are required. its fast and easy to use. You can grab it HERE

Can't play divx or xvid media

Could be a codec problem
Use these two, one for video and one for audio and see if you have the same problems, these are the best codecs, don't use those all in 1 packs as they are generally out of date of full of ****.

if you are using windows media player that is a common problem with some dvds use nero or a different program as ms does not have plugins for all variations in dvds

Movie download

The movie you had downloaded is in AVI or divx format ....for that you need to have a divx enabled DVD Player.......
If your dvd player does't support DivX format .... it won't play it..
Try running that movie in DivX enable DVD Player
