My del studio laptop doesn't shut down

You could have a corruption in the script or a process that won't stop. Try holding down on the power button until the screen goes dark and all lights go out. That is a hard shut down without saving settings. After it shuts down (finally) power it back up. Hit the F8 key on your keyboard the moment your machine goes to the black screen before it can load windows. That is the safe mode. Move the highlight up to safe mode or safe mode with networking and allow it to continue to boot up. Then, when it's completed the process and windows displays that it is in safe mode, do a normal restart. That should resolve the issue.

Power light blinking on nv53a gateway

Your Gateway laptop comes with a series of LED lights that alert you to the state of your computer. You'll notice there are blue, purple and red lights that either blink or display solidly. Each light, blinking or solid, has a different meaning. The blue blinking light on your laptop indicates that it is in Standby mode. Your laptop goes into Standby when you close its lid without shutting down the computer. To turn this light off, you'll need to take the computer out of Standby mode, and if you want to ensure that the blinking blue light does not return, shut down the computer after each use.

Open the lid of your Gateway laptop and press the power button. Once Windows loads, enter your password if required. The blue light will no longer be blinking because the computer is no longer in Standby mode. Shut the laptop off when you finish using it rather than simply closing the lid to stop the blue light from blinking again. Click "Start" from your Windows desktop and click "Shut down." Change your computer's power settings to keep if from going into Standby mode when you close the lid if you'd rather not shut down your computer every time you use it. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Security" and then click "Power Options." Click "Choose what closing the lid does" from the list of options on the left side of the window. Select "Hibernate" from the drop-down lists under "On Battery" and "Plugged In." Click "Save Changes." Your laptop will now bypass Standby mode when you close the lid and it will enter Hibernate mode instead. Hope it helps.

Enable Hibernation in Windows 7 Starter on Samsung N150

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work. This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation. Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money! Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow. The Shut Down menu appears. Point at "Sleep" and click on this option. Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode. Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse. There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on. All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode. Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Power Options." A menu opens. Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode. If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity Your Computer in sleep mode b> First, save all of your work. Information in computer memory is not saved while your computer is on standby. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel, then Power Management. Click Standby Beside When I Push the Power Button. Push the Power button. b> Automatically Putting Your Computer on Standby b> Save all work before leaving your computer. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click Power Management. Set the times that you want your system to go on standby, to shut off the monitor and to shut off the hard disks. Click OK. Your computer will go on standby according to the schedule you have entered. b> Putting Your Computer in Hibernation b> From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click Power Settings. Click on the Advanced tab. At the When I Push the Power Button On My Computer screen, click Hibernate. Click the Power button. Hope this helps.

Stop 0x000000ED (UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME)

Hmm seen this a few times. This is most commonly caused by your NTFS format layering being corrupted. Meaning that the partition was either not completed when u loaded the operating system or the format has been corrupted from "hard shut downs" This is turning the pc off with the power button instead of going to "start" button and doing a soft shut down. U can try retrieving the format back but u will have programs that no longer responde. Easiest way to solve the issue is reloading your operating system.

Will not boot-up, then used safe mode, I got a "stop code"

STOP error 0xED means that the I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed. STOP code 0x000000ED may also display "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" on the same STOP message. Problem is with the hard drive
Check this: What MS has to say http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185
Most probably a damaged directory structure. Firs make sure that the hard drive is connected properly. Use your windows cd and boot from it. Go to Repair mode. Type Dir and if it says there is an error accessing the disk. (Directory Enumeration). Type D: (If u have a separate volume er I mean a partition) Type Dir and enter. If it shows the directory list thats fine. Type C: and go their again. (You have to hit enter after typing for every command) Type chkdsk C: or chkdsk /r C: (recommended)
Then it will scan the disk and do the repair. (There is a minimal loss of data if its damaged pretty too much). If you see that it repairs after the process type Dir and hit enter. If you see the directory list then its the time to boot the machine and its all done! If still error is shown type fixboot instead chkdsk Note: If chkdsk command is unavailable type help and hit enter to get a list of commands. Check for scandisk and use it (scandisk c:). Thats for older versions of windows.
Thanks for contacting Fixya.

This might help you out --> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315403
It basically says that you have to go into the Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r. Also this site has a fix for this type of STOP error that you can try to install after you are able to run chkdsk /r on the hard drive. Let me know if you need any more assistance with how to get into the recovery console, installing the update, etc....
