Dell inspiron 1150 screen goes black after standby
Hello. my dell inspiron 1150 screen goes black after i close the lidand it goes in standby. i open it and its just all black. the computeris on and running, but nothing responds. i waited about 10-15 min. andnothing happened. the only thing that worked was that if i used a hardreset, then it went back to normal when it started back up. thishappens whenever i close the lid and it goes to standby. i don't knowif this helps, but my cpu's hard disk space is 27.9 gb with 21.4 gbused. i also have 1 gb of ram. the only thing i recently did that wasout of the ordinary was use the disk defragmenter and disk clean-uplike i do every month.

Re: dell inspiron 1150 screen goes black after standby
Let me help you regarding this, As your notebook is not having low room to handel the standby applications, i suggest you to change the power options in the control pannel. There you find POWER OPTIONS icon click on it and go to advance tab, there u find the option called WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID, put it to DO NOTHING. So that nothing happens when you close the lid. I hope this helps you. BYE

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"
Here is the list of all the drivers and downloads for your model. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_1150&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
the lcd screen may be causing this. Try to connect the laptop to an external monitor and have both working at the same time by toggling Fn F8 on the keyboard. Wait until it goes black on the LCD. post back what happens. If the external monitor wont go out when the lcd does, the lcd may have to be replaced. If the monitor goes out too, it's a video card issue which may be resolved by reinstalling the driver.
