Hey there Icecubefairy, thanks so much for the info and the email in
regard to my problem with my Canon PowershotA75. Typical of me I had
only had a "blokes" look at first online ha ha. Then with a little more
research was able to locate the following website
    http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds....

I sincerely appreciate your help and being so kind as to reply so
promptly. Just to add a note: I called Canon Cameras in Sydney and they
indicated that it's more than likely one of over 2 million +++ Sony ccd
chips that have proven faulty over the years. The offer from Canon, is
as you said, is to fix it & post it back to me for free.
Again thanks a trillion for your help top service
    Cheers mate Bill:)

I just had this same problem. Check the canon web site, search for you camera and look for the CCD Image Sensor Advisory. They are aware of this problem and will fix it for free. Just call the customer service number.

I would take it back to where you bought it, it should still be under warranty. Sounds like a bad rear image sensor. If your really handy with tools, you can find how to repair it on youtube. But I would take it back to the seller. Now if you bought it used, I would try United Camera. I have used United Camera before and found them to be really good.

With the advent of the Megapixel camera , our photo's that we take are getting bigger and bigger. This is all good to have a nice and big resolution picture , but the trouble comes in when you try to e-mail a 4Mb picture on a limited internet connection.

There is lots of software out there that can re-size a picture or photo , but I prefer and recommend Pixresizer because its free and really easy to use.

Download Pixresizer HERE

Once downloaded , unzip the program and install it to your computer. If you do not have software to unzip it , please download winrar HERE.

Now open the program.

You have a choice of converting multiple files or a single file at a time.I'll be demonstrating how to convert a few files at the same time. The concept is the same for converting a single file.

Click on the "work with multiple files" tab.

  1. Select the folder where the photo's which you want to resize are located .
  2. Select the folder where the resized files are saved.
  3. Move the size dragging scale to select desired size.
  4. Select the output format (Jpeg is fine)
  5. Finally Save Pictures.

And that's all. I now converted 7.8Mb of photo's to only 200Kb which is a much more appropriate size for sending in a e-mail.

Please remember to rate this tip if your find it helpful.

Placing date/time on the photo

Oddly enough Canon thought that people would only want date stamps on "Postcards". The date stamp options is only allowed when you select the "Postcard" size (1600X1200) in the function menu.

I hope this helps!

Sorry to say, but your camera is probably bound for the electronics recycling pile. :( You can probably find a replacement A70 on ebay for a really good price, or (probably the better option) look at upgrading.
