Question about VinoTemp (VT60GNV) Wine Cooler

Vinotemp wine cooler won't cool

I have a winecooler that I bought at costco about 2 years ago.  When I got it it really didnt cool. So I let it sit figuring I would get around to fixing it or having one of their tech's come out and fix my problem.  Then I tried switching outlets after it sitting for a couple of months.  It Worked!!  I had my floors cleaned about 6 months later and had to unplug it to move it.  When I went to plug it back in it reverted back to the same problem.  Running but not cooling. It sounds like a fan is on but I'm not hearing the ticking, tinking I did when it was cooling.  I was frustrated and tried another outlet and it still didn't work.  I called vinotemp and of course the 1 year warranty had expired the month before I called even though I only had it on for about 6 months.  Ive let it sit for almost a year. Ive just tried to use it again and again it runs but won't cool.  Do I not have enough electricity to run it? Not enough Amps or something?  Or is their no more freon? Or compressor busted?  I'm at a loss. Thought I would check online before I had a repair man come in.  If I have to go with a repair man how much would it be to replace a compressor in this small unit, if that's the problem?
thanks
Ron

I had the same problem it was my compressor and it could not be fixed without replacing the whole thing.  Costco did return the money.

I have the same problem, display always stays at 76 deg. I traced the schematic and Fan on, display works, fuse ok in interconnect board and the compressor has the 120 volts required. However, it appears that the compressor kicks on, draws the current down to 116 Volts and then shuts off. Looks like the compressor is bad. Replacing it is not possible without someone who can install freon R134A back into the system. I am taking mine to a repair place and of course have to pay the $35.00 fee for them to inspect it again and give me a quote on what it will cost to replace the compressor. I looked for the compressor unit online and can't find that specific LG model, go figure. Will let you know sometime next week what it runs to get them fixed.

It sounds like your control module is bad. Vinotemp does list the replacement part as available at a cost of around $35

You may need to change the cooling system on the unit if the unit is free of dust and still does not cool.

Vinotemp wine cooler just stop working.

Ok check the power supply input. Assume you have do e that and all ok. More than likely it could be a thermostat or compressor gas leakage. Has the compressor been running more than usual before it gave up working. Check for rust on the internal coils as sometimes they fail. Depending on what you paid for the wine cooler it may be cheaper to simply replace it. Can highly recommend Delongi 145
litre bar fridge, after replacing several cheaper brands and it is very reliable and cools really well though they are not at the cheap end of the market. You get what you pay for with appliances. Best of luck resolving the problem but if the wine cooler no longer is getting cold but the compressor continues to run, you can bet that it's out if gas from a leak in the internal pipe work and generally not worth attempting to either locate and or repair.

Does not cool ?

Hi!
1. Check if there is enough breathing space between the wine cooler and the wall. The cooling radiator must getting hod due to lack of ventilation.

2. Clean the radiator using a vacuum cleaner .

3. The Gas has leaked and you need to refill the gas.

Vinotemp 2 zone wine cooler flashes "Lo" on numeric display for lower compartment - will not hold temperature requested. Temp in upper compartment will not go below 67 even though it is set for 51. Room...

Not sure, but did you clean the filter in the back? Ours has that, and the temp starts creeping up every few weeks until I clean it. But we've never been able to get it below 58 or so, and in the last year, not below 60. I think that's just the nature of this type of cooling. Our house is also at 80. But, can keep it at 60 with the above cleaning.

First check the grating over the fan in the back. If it is covered with dust, there won't be enough air flow and the unit won't cool. Clean the dust off and see if it cools back down. It may take a long time to cool down if it is full of wine, so I recommend taking the wine out to test if it works.

It's the overload protector thats gone bad. Remove the plastic cover on the side of the compressor( LG model NS30LACG). The OLP is the one on top. If you open it up you will find that it may have some burn marks from electrical arcing. The part number is on the side (P6R8MC). Do a Google search for it. It costs about 12 bucks.
