The operating system has frozen during its boot process, restart the computer, after post screen hit F8 a few times, you will get a sub-menu, chose "last known good configeration" and press enter, hopefully the system will re-boot into vista
get back to me if this does not work

good luck

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Dell Inspiron 531 gets me crazy..

hello, sounds like memory issue, I would say if you have more than one stick of memory in it remove one at a time and try it again.
also while you are at it reset BIOS by remove battery from motherboard and/or switching jumper setting.

hope it helps.

Can't find my bios on my compac presario ez2200

  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. When the first screen displays, immediately press the F10 key if your computer was built in 2006 or later (came with Vista). Press the F1 key if your computer was built before 2006 (XP or earlier). Press the key once every second until a BIOS Setup utility screen opens.
    Greetings ,
    Hope this helps

Compac presario, turn it on and blank screen. Just nothing

i suggest you check your registry system. However you need to get into the window (I assume you used window base OS) to do that.. Have you try to use safe mode?
To check you registery you may want to check below link for details

My laptop turns on but then I get a blank screen.

Put in your windows vista CD and boot the PC. It will boot from the CD and you should be able to select a recovery/repair option. Otherwise I believe you can reinstall windows without loosing your data.

You really should backup your data and do a clean install of Vista.

Display driver problem

Try this:

START/ right click Computer goto Manage/ click Services

Here are the services I have stopped and disabled. You can right click each service and goto properties to disable them.

readyboost
superfetch
print spooler - must be re-enabled and started if you use a printer
server
computer browser
secondary logon
security center
windows error reporting
windows search
windows firewall - must be re-enabled and started to use windows firewall

Hope that works, and please rate my response if it was helpful.

Thanks and good luck

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

Compac deskpro Pentium 111 - 600

I'm not completely sure on what you are exactly asking here, but I'll do the best I can. If you have the Recovery CD, you need to boot from the CD and run the Recovery. When you go to do the recovery you will have two options, the normal recovery or the destructive recovery. If there is nothing important and everything can be wiped, run a destructive, but if you need everything run the other one. If you do not have a Recovery CD but have a Windows Vista disk that matches the version on your computer (IE: Windows Vista Home 32 bit is on your computer and you have a Windows Vista Home 32 bit disk) and you DO NOT need anything saved, just reinstall Windows. There is a product key for Vista on the sticker attached to your case. If you have neither, then you can probably get a new recovery disk by contacting HP (since they bought out Compaq). If you can not get a new Recovery CD, you will need to go out and buy a new copy of Windows Vista.
