F1 Error on Maytag Electric Oven

I have an F1 error coming up on my Maytag Electric Range Model MER5770ACW. I've tried replacing the touch pad, I bought a refurbished one - didn't work; so I bought a new one (part #74008108) and the F1 error is still coming up. I've tried shutting off the power, removing the touch pad ribbon then turning it back on, - beeps F1 regularly. I tried holding down the clock button for 15 seconds, it goes to the clock for about 5 seconds, then back to F1. I'm out of ideas and I'm hoping someone can help me please.

Found something on the net that said it may be a heat sensor so I returned my new touch pad ($220) and put in my old one that was giving me the F1error. I bought a heat sensor ($55) and crossed my fingers. It WORKED! F1 was no longer flashing and the oven's back up and running.. so much for the error codes.. F1 = touch pad and F4 was supposed to be the sensor..

If you're fixing it yourself and think it may be the touch pad, I recommend going through SEARS. Even though the touch pad was an electrical part they still allowed me to return it hassle free and most companies wont accept returns if it wasn't installed by one of their service professionals. So I was more than happy to get the $220 back when it turned out to be the heat sensor. Only downfall is that I had to wait 2 weeks to get the part. Hope this helps anyone with the same error.

Repair man fixed top oven probe sensor due to a F1-1 error code. Top oven is still giving the same error code. Repairman wants to come back and charge 200.00 bucks again to replace bottom oven sensor.

The electronic control could have a bad touch pad that is causing this. You may need to replace the electronic control itelf. It is expensive almost 400.00 dollars.

I try to turn one my Oven and said F-1 problem What F=1 mean

Hi ambertone53,

The F1 error code is about a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). Please follow the steps below to determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective.

1. Unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker. It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.

2. Gain access inside the control panel.

3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.

4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.

5. Turn the power back on.

6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back

7. Please replace the ERC, if F1 comes back. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

F1 Error Code on MayTag range

migs, on a Maytag the F1 indicates there is a problem with the touch-pad or control itself. Usually, it's the touch pad. Try killing the power to the range and remove the touch pad ribbon from the control board. Clean it with an eraser. Power back up and see if the error comes back. If it does, remove the ribbon cable again and power up with-out it attached. If the same error still returns, then I would suspect the control board itself. Catriver..post back.

Error code F1

Error code F1 is for a defective touch pad or membrane (usually the touch pad). In this case you will need replace touch pad or membrane. It seems that water entered the touch pad during the self cleaning process, remove the touch pad and try to dry it. Good luck !!
