Be sure that your wireless network is working
Check your wireless router settings
Check if you see any other wireless network available on your computer
Test connection, see if you pulled an IP address
Go to the Windows desktop
Select Start then Run
In the text box type: cmd (WIN98/SE type command)
At the command prompt type: ipconfig
4. What does it read as the IP address?
* If it reads 192.168. something dot something then you are pulling
an IP address and are connected to the network. The problem is
software related, check your firewall, and wireless card configuration.
Also check any WPA or WEP encryption keys. Check with the respective
manufactures.
* If it reads 0.0.0.0 for the IP address you are not connected to the network.
* Check your connection configuration and the adaptor.
* Check with the respective manufactures.
STEP TWO/ Basic troubleshooting continued....Testing the adaptor
1. Go to Windows desktop
2. Select Start then Run
3. In the text box type: cmd (WIN98/SE type command)
A DOS window will open.
4. At the prompt type: ping 127.0.0.1 (reserved IP address for all adaptors)
5. Check the line that reads "packets sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0
A. Zero is good, the adaptor is working. Again check the connection
configuration,and the adaptor configuration.
It may be a power issue especially with older or less expensive computers
or wireless cards.
* Check the antenna location, are you inside or outside, look for interference.
* Check with the respective manufactures.
B. If it reads all 4 packets lost, the adaptor is not functioning.
* Check and update the drivers, Contact the respective manufactures.
* If it shows any number of packets lost (you are dropping packets)
it is an adaptor or signal strength issue (generally form the laptop side,
not being able to reach back) especially with older or less expensive
computers or wireless cards.
* Update the drivers
* Check antenna location, or distance from the signal
* Contact the respective manufactures.

I want to be able to log on to unsuported networks and free wifi hotspots and I was able to until about a week ago. tried to log on at my local court house where they offer it free with out a password but there is a red x next to the publicnet network now. I have check the IP info using the steps. It shows the adaptor is working I don't seem to have a power issue.

Have you got two wireless icons down on the right by the clock. As it may be using the belkin wireless manager to control the device rather than the windows version.

Card doesn't connect to router.

This could be cause by many things. Check your router and see if there are any wireless security or locked mac addresses (locked networks). You can always reset the settings it by pushing and holding the reset button at the back of the router. Also, is the card able "see" the router? If it cant "see" the router, you are probably not in range that the router, once again, has a locked network.

Cant grt xbox360 wireless adapter conected to wireless router on pc down stairs

I assume the wireless router is configured correctly and the PC can connect to the wireless router and the Internet.
The problem could be that the signal is too weak upstairs for the XBox especially if you have a concrete floor between the XBox and the wireless router. Try moving the wireless router around to increase signal strength to the CBox.
The other problem could be the XBox is not configured correctly.
Follow these instructions to configure the XBox.
  1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
  3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
  4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.
  5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
  6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Connected to wireless network, but cant browse internet.

I think there might be lost in the packet sending.
You said the PC is still connected to the network but not able to go online.
Is there any other wireless computer which is able to go online wirelessly and working fine.
If yes then try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter.
If not then check the router wireless settings.

When you try to connect to a different wireless network, you should go into system settings, network settings, and then configure network. Once you see the basic setting, press the A button to setup the new connection. This should allow you to connect.

It is possible that you have a faulty wireless adapter. You could test your wireless adapter on a friend's xbox to see if the problem follows the adapter.

As far as your downloaded videos are concerned, if you reformat your hard drive, then yes all of your downloaded content will be gone.

After the reformat, you should be able to download the content you've already purchased, "as long as you're downloading it to the same console you were using when you first made the purchase."

If I were you, I would verify this with Microsoft before doing the reformat.

The newer 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz wireless routers should reach a couple of hundred feet. Make sure you do not have your SSID hidden. If you do, you will need to manually enter it into the xbox settings along with other security you have on the router.
