Question about HP Deskjet 2460 InkJet Printer
Hi im romelie, my printer hp deskjet d2460 is never stop blinking and i cannot use it... i dont know whats the problem i have check the ink its ok... actually i have a refillable cartridge and i refill it just yesterday... Its started blinking last week... i need your suggestions please send it in my e-mail add... thanks ^_^
I have experienced the same problem. What i did was to find out what causes the problem. Since i have experienced that problem after changing my black cartridge (HP21), i have a hint that one of the cartridges is defective. Here's what i did which solved my problem:
>> I checked both catridges by removing it (one at a time - then closing the printer cover) and wait if the light will stop blinking.
>> If the light stops blinking, then the cartridge that you have removed is the defective one.
Hope this will solve your printer problem.

I'm guessing here cuz I don't have a 2460. I have 4 other HPs though. I'm guessing that since you are using a refillable cartridge, you mayhave exceeded it's calculated service life. All the printer companies do this. If you are printing more than 500-1000 pages per month, your printer will just stop. I could be wrong but usually there should be an error message on the screen. If you need to empty the waste pad check out one of the experts here on Fixya I think it's worldvet for his solutions on waste pads. It is generic. The other thing is you may have to search for the reset codes of the 2460. Cleaning the waste pad will give you a temporary solution. The printer may ask you to have itself serviced. Let me know if this helps. If it doesn't let me know the error message or codes that you are getting. Sorry I can't help you as much.

Go to the control panel printers and faxes screen and look in the right hand column for the "status" message. It should tell you what the problem is. Mine is currently telling me it's jammed but there is never any misfed paper, it just doesn't work right. The light then blinks and going to the control panel for printers and faxes you see "paper jam" instead of "ready". Fun...

Same problem here. No printing out of Windows, with printer reporting PaperJam (while there was none), Printing (while nothing happened), and the Power button kept blinking. Other important diagnostic is this:
Disconnect USB, keep power line connected though.
Power up D2460
Press the power button with the end of a pencil, while lifting the lid 4 times (it sounds silly, but use the pencil, otherwise lifting lid not possible). Lift lid as far as pencil will allow you.
This will trigger a self test print.
If selftest is OK, then problem probably is your drivers or other OS related issue.
However, in my case self test rpint did not go. Turned out it was a clogged up cartridge, that was an Office Depot copy (no HP original). As others found, if you remove one cartridge, and the other is fine, the self test print will commence and finish.

Question: My hp d2460 printer is telling me I have the wrong cartridge and I do not.
I just solved it by pulling the cartridge out, printing a page with only the color cart, then replacing the black cartridge. it is working for now......

My " solution " was throwing the printer in the TRASH ! . I have never had any other printer where there wasn't manual buttons on the printer itself . Ever since I mistakingly bought the HP piece of **** I had nothing but problems . They make TONS OF MONIES SELLING INK ! , buy a competitors PRINTER ! , I DID !

I just disconnect my printer from ac and also usb,and then pull out both ink crtridges and then clean the space where cartridges touch the printer with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab and after wipe out it with paper tissue.it stopped the blinking.

I have the same blinking problem, and guess what i did, i remove the cartridge and put it back again..simple right?? how you put back the cartridge will decide the solution of your problem. Thanks, i hope this helps.. Note** When putting back the cartridge insert it not on the left side but on the middle.

You have to take off the clear strip of plastic over the copper area, or the printer will not detect it. There should be a green pull-tab on the cartridge.

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: http://www.pokluda.cz/. You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.
