Angie, Log in and then go to your Chat settings on the bottom right of the page and "Turn Chat Off" . That should make you invisible or offline and no one will know that you are logged in . Hope this helps :) Attaching a picture.

after everything is complete,facebook will send a default password or system generated password to your email. open/log into your email and open up the email from facebook,get the system generated password and relog in to facebook.
