My girlfriend in the Philippines has her yahoo set to sign her into her mobile device when she logs out. She gets the messages I send to her through yahoo on her phone but when she responds I only get about 60 percent of them, she is charged for all of them even the ones I do not get. She has spoken with her service provider and that service provider insists it is a problem in yahoo not her service. I have done everything, uninstalled and re-installed, deleted cookies and all temp files, dumped my dns resolver cache, run every spyware program I have, re-started my pc and have done all these things numerous times all to no avail. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem ? Thanks.
Hi peacemaker23, I most appreciate your suggestion. We did everything exactly as you suggested and, unfortunately, it did not correct the issue. After we did it I received the first 3 sms she sent then they just stopped again. There are a few things that have come to mind that were done just previous to this problem occurring that I did not think to mention in my OP. I downloaded the new flash player, I installed a couple new games to my pc, and she, by accident, did a master reset on her phone. Her mobile provider, which is smart wireless, said that what she did with her phone could not be the cause and the the problem lies somewhere on my end. I am completely stumped as to what to do next, any further suggestions would be most appreciated as this is getting quite expensive for us, what with her having to pay for sms that I don't receive and me calling her direct at .70 cents USD per minute trying to talk her though different things to do. I am willing to try anything at this point. Thanks again I really appreciate your time and consideration

Click on "Messenger" in the top left hand corner of the Messenger Toolbar.
Click on "Preferences".
Click on "General".
Click on "Edit Mobile Phone" at the bottom.
In the "Other Mobile Devices" section, click the trash can Icon which is under "Delete". (There should only be one entry to delete.) The "Delete this Device" window opens.
Select "Remove alerts for this device" from the "Delete this Device" window.
Click "Delete Device" to confirm.
When this is done, add your new Mobile as follows:
Click on the little mobile phone icon under the Custom Status message box.
Click on "Set up Mobile Phone".
A new window will open up to enter the details of your new mobile phone. Enter the telephone number of your mobile device in the "Number" box and click on "Continue". You will receive a text message with a confirmation code on your mobile device. The "Get Yahoo! Messenger on Your Mobile Phone window" changes and it asks you for the confirmation code you just received on your mobile device.
Enter the 4-digit confirmation code in the "Enter code" box and click to select the check box option for "Automatically sign me into my mobile phone when I log out of Yahoo! Messenger on my PC". Click "Next". (The Get Yahoo! Messenger on Your Mobile Phone window changes to tell you that you've successfully registered your mobile device.) Click on "Done".
Yahoo mail has chat activated and when you log into email it logs into Chat as well and that's why Yahoo Messanger logs you out because you cannot have two instances of it running. To fix this, on Yahoo Mail screen, under Chat & Mobile Text, select Sign out of Chat and it will show I'm Offline. In this way it won't kick you out of Yahoo Messenger anymore.

Yahoo has prevented us from having 2 Instant Messaging capable programs open and active at the same time. For example, Yahoo Messenger with Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Web messenger, your mobile phone, Ipod, or other computers etc. etc. Yahoo classifies all these programs as "Different devices or locations". Navigating from one to the other will close one program and you may get the notification message you refer to. OR someone has hacked into your account- Report to Yahoo and Try to Recover it-Send report Politely and concisely.Do not try to Send More report for Same cause.. If this Helped -Rate ME...Thanks for Contacting FixYa
Hi, we now have several locations that are capable of accessing the Yahoo Instant Messaging feature. Yahoo Messenger itself, plus Yahoo Web Messenger, Yahoo All New Mail, My Yahoo, your Mobile phone, plus any other computer.etc etc. Yahoo classifies all these programs as different 'locations or devices' Yahoo currently do not allow you to have 2 open and active at the same time. If you have one open, and then move to another, one will close and you get a message telling you that you have been signed out. You CAN have Messenger and Mail open together as long as your status is set to "offline" in MAIL by using the drop-box next to your name and selecting 'Sign out of chat'. ( your chat contacts will remove themselves from the inbox until you make yourself 'available' again.) Please note: You may think you are signed out of Messenger when this is not the case. Hitting the 'X' when you close the Messenger page does not sign you out of Messenger it only closes that page - you have to Exit Messenger by right clicking the icon in the system tray.and selecting 'Exit' I suggest you make this setting. > (left click) Messenger > Preferences > General - check box "sign out of Messenger when I close the main window" > Apply > OK. If the above does not apply and you suspect your account is being used by a hacker. When you get signed out, close all your Yahoo programs and type your name into this software. Hit "GO" and hopefully it will show you as "offline". If not, contact Yahoo customer services
When you are logged in your yahoo messenger, you can click Actions menu and choose send SMS message. Go to 'other contact' tab and type in the mobile no. you should be starting it from "+(country code)" followed by the mobile number., like +61...... for australia for example.
You can only have one yahoo "Instant message capable" program open at one time. So if you move from Messenger to mail or chat you will get this message. If you want to have Yahoo Mail open with another Yahoo IM program you will have to set your status to "offline" in MAIL by using the dropbox next to your name ( all new mail) select "sign out of chat" In Classic mail its located in the Inbox. Your online chat contacts will vacate the inbox until you make yourself "Available" again. Yahoo classifies - Messenger - Mail - webmessenger - my yahoo - mobile phones - computers etc etc as different computers or devices - hence the confusion.
It seems to be issue with your internet connection. Unstable connections will disconnect th messenger frequently. Observe the same with any other messenger software like gtalk.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
