Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an NVIDIA geforce 7900GT that is giving me problems. when i boot up i see characters that are the wrong colour or the wrong characters completely. this is before i even get to windows. when i get to the loading windows screen, the black background behind the windows flag has blue and green dots. i know its not an overheating problem because i noticed the problem as soon as i started up my pc and the card was cold.

The cards faulty, send it back or get a new one, you'll be wasting your time trying to fix it

Sounds like an overheated card but maybe it's just not inserted properly. Try to take the card out and insert it again with a bit more force. You will feel a click when the card is inserted properly. When I first inserted my xfx nvidia geforce 6200 agp I got proper image when booting but when windows was started I had a black screen. When I took another look at the card I saw the card was not properly inserted. A bit more force on the card and it said click. Now I have no problems.

try downloading " Driver Magician ". This searches for and updates all drivers on your system. There is a small fee for registration but this has been a God-send for me.

Coloured And Dotted Lines Across My Screen

Firstly, start your pc in safe mode (f8) on boot up. This will start your pc in vga mode, and hopefully the lines are still there, which will indicate a faulty graphics card, if they aren't it may be a problem driver. If no lines, go to Add/remove programmes and uninstal your graphics driver. Re boot pc then when it finds your card make sure you point Windows to the folder in which you have saved the driver files. The driver should then install, see if any change. You may have to try some older drivers, as Nvidia can be awkward at times. I have had varying problems with Nvidia and replaced with ATI cards with no problems.
