Question about Gateway MT3705 Notebook
I'm looking for a system restore disk for a Gateway 505 GR. Gateway no longer has it. Any suggestions???
Here is another option...your computer may have a system restore point (windows xp has this). Go to Start menu, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore. Then all you do is follow the wizard instructions. All Windows XP take a "snapshot" of your computer at various times, and you will be able to pick through many days for restore points. This will restore your computer to that day, before you had your problem. Afterwards, you can even set up your own restore points whenever you wish. Just follow the instructions on System Restore! Let me know how it turns out.

Due that the system restore is not available, if you need to reload your system you can do it with a any original windows cd to install your operating system and then complete the installation downloading the drivers (if you need some) from the manufacturer website (gateway)

Is there not a 2nd partition on your computer with the restore files on? If there is try pressing Alt + F10 when the gateway screen appears on boot. This will restore you computer to the factory settings.
Before restore starts it will ask you for a password, this would have been user generated when you first got the computer. If you don't know the password, press enter - maybe you didn't enter one to begin with and this will bypass it, or it may give you a hint as to what the password is. Or just try typing in admin. (if you don't remember your password - I don't know what to suggest, except it may be the same password you use for your user account or did use when you first got the computer.)
I have tried looking for restore disks for you and came back with nothing.
I hope this helps

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
