Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

CANON PowerShot750 blank screen while using external mic

Everytime I plug in an external mic, I get a blank screen/black screen. I've tried two different mics. Pressing the DISP. button does nothing.

Since I can't delete my comment, I'll let you know my solution. There is no A/V input. I mistook the A/V output for a mic jack.

Blank screen (Black) on Acer Aspire 9100, 2005 version, Laptop

Hi,

Because you have tried it on an external monitor tells me it's nothing to do with screen, inverter or backlight.

This because if it was any of the above you would still get a display on the external monitor.

It's either one of two things: faulty memory or its not seated properly. check on the system memory, clean the contacts and slots and make sure you seat it properly. if you have more than one stick of memory installed take one out and rotate them one at a time turning the laptop on in between.

If you still get nothing on screen then chances are that the GPU (graphics processing unit) is shot.

Good luck.

I dont understand how to use an external mic. Use of external mic.

Your external mic needs to have a 1/8" plug. You will need to find the "Mic" input, this is generally found behind a removable or hinged plastic or rubber panel, and usually near the A/V plug connectors. When you plug in an external mic, the camera switches over to use it rather than the built-in mic. On this camcorder, you cannot set the recording level of the external mic. The camera sets the level automatically. So it is simply a plug-and-play, or plug-and-record solution.

Using an external mic allows you to reduce self-noise and handling noise. It is generally recommended for better videos. Different microphones are likely to interact in different ways with your camera and its automatic level-setting, so you should try out different microphones if you have more than one available to you.

Regarding the canon hv20 camcorder. When using an external canon MIC a) How do you know the mic is working and you are not picking up sound on the internal MIC b)On connecting the external MIC an icon...

If you put the camcorder in manual mode, there is a microphone sensor that will move when sound is picked up by the external microphone. In manual you can keep everything else automatic. The off for the mic means that the built in mic is turned off when an external mic is attached.

I believe you need a stereo mic. This will have two black rings around the male input. When you plug it into the camera, it will "disable" the built-in mic. I don't believe it will matter if the attenuation is on or off.
