Program won't print

I have an Epson Stylus C88 printer installed at the default printer on my Vista 64-bit system. PrintMaster Platinum 18 does not recognize my printer and won't install it for use with the program. It keeps telling me over and over to install it. I've attempted sevedral times and even printed a ''Test'' page, but when I go back tso print, it's the same thing all over again.
All my other programs have no printing problems.
Any ideas?
Broderbund is no help at all on their website forthat product.

I've already installed the Vista drivers for my printer. The printer works with all my other ptograms but does NOT work with PrintMaster Premium 18.

  • willfrost Nov 14, 2008

Did everything up to the "Graphics or Color" tab. Neither of those exist. I have a "Color Management" tab, but none of the things you suggested were available.

  • willfrost Nov 14, 2008

Again: program is PrintMaster Platinum 18
    OS: Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    Printer: Epson Stylus C88
Problem: PrintMaster program does not install the printer and does not print. I've followed the on-screen prompts to no avail.
The printer works fine with all my other programs and is set as thnedefault printer.
    All required drivers are up-to-date.
TheBroderbund website is of no practical use.

  • willfrost Nov 14, 2008

That number for Broderbund . . . I've called it several times - they offer NO software support.
I've even emailed them but hav received no response.

  • willfrost Nov 16, 2008

I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it several times.
The printer works just fine with all my other programs.
Despite what Microsoft Vista 64-bit compatibility site says . . . PrintMaster Platinum does NOT work with Vista 64-bit.
In addition to the printer not working . . the Help files don't work and the PDF converter doesn't work either.
I finally contacted Broderbund, but they couldn't really help either.

The main problem is the X64 drivers, they don't seem to work properly even if you visit the maufacturers website for the official drives.
i have had nothing but problems with drivers for both XP X64 and Vista X64
you can try always check to see if the printer supports X64 at all

Hello,

It seem it is just a problem between PrintMaster Premium 18 and your printer.

Try to uninstall PrintMaster Premium 18 and your printer driver.
Then install your printer, and then install PrintMaster Premium 18

Good luck,
Dahaka

In-Box = Drivers are included with Windows Vista. Just connect your Epson product to your computer and follow the on-screen instructions that Windows Vista displays to guide you through driver installation. Windows Update = Drivers are available using the automatic software update service built into Windows Vista. Just connect your Epson product to your computer and select Locate and install driver software (recommended) in the window that appears. Your Epson product drivers install automatically. (You may need to select this option more than once during installation). Download = Drivers are available for download from the Epson support site. Click the product name to go to the Download page for that product. Be sure to select the correct driver type for your version of Windows Vista: either 32-bit or 64-bit. To see which version of Windows Vista you have, click the Start button, Computer, and System Properties, then check the operating system version listed under the System heading.

Here's the reason:

Your VISTA printer driver is provided by MICROSOFT and is somewhat like a Generic driver (see www.epson.com/vista).

PrintMaster Platinum 18 looks for manufacturer provided printer driver that have settings and features that photo editing suites requires to produce superb printouts. One example as you can see noted at the bottom part of the PrintMaster Platinum 18 website (see http://www.broderbund.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=1978) * Borderless printing with compatible printers only.

For now, hoping that one of the companies involved (Epson, Microsoft, Broderbund) would release a patch to make it work.

Try uninstalling Printmaster program and reinstalling it. I know it sounds generic but sometimes after trying all the other options and not having them work makes us forget about just uninstalling and reinstalling. Something may have gotten corrupted with the the fix attempts. Let me know how it turns out for you.

There seems to be no problem with your printer as you have said

so either the Printmaster software is not supporting the Printer or maybe there is some fault in the installation

If it is not a big problem to you could you please try to reinstall the software and see what happens?

please do post back the results.

Epson Stylus pro Vista x64 Compatible? YES

Use the driver for the next model up: Epson stylus pro 16000.  A 64 bit driver is available for XPx64 on Epson site:  http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=19156&prodoid=22966689&infoType=Downloads&platform=All Install Printer Driver v5.50 in Vista x64.  The 10000 will print 100%, just like in XP with its own drivers.  Any problems?  I would happy to help you save the time I spent before finding that out.
Good luck!

Epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://websites.uk-plc.net/UK_Inkjet_Cartridges_PLUS/products/Print_Head_Cleaner.htm
Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

How to get Epson R300 stylus monitor to work in Vista

I have the same problem with my stylus C88. Epson never did provide Vista drivers so I have never found a way to get the Epson software to work with Vista. The print driver does work so you will be able to print but you'll have to clean the nozzle manually by pushing the button on the printer rather than using the Epson Monitor. Sorry.

Printer printing more then what is needed

while uninstalling the epson driver it will ask you for delete the setting or do you want to keep it. if you select keep it, it will happen how many times you install the driver. Check the printer settings in printers and faxes window, select printer go to printing preferences, page layout and check whether you give no. of copies to 2 there.

Incompatible with Vista

  1. Uninstall your Epson and than disconnect it from your PC.
  2. Download drivers and other utilities suiting your Vista version (32 or 64 bit) from here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=58606&prodoid=56291067&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows
