Bluetooth connections allow devices to connect without the use of wires or cables.
Some users of the Sony Vaio laptop computer have encountered problems with the connection of Bluetooth devices with their computer.

The problem lies with turning on the Vaio's Bluetooth function.
This is turned on through the computer's Wireless Switch Settings manager.

The icon for this is in the system tray in the taskbar when the computer is first purchased.
Double-click the "Wireless Switch Settings" icon in the system tray of the taskbar.

It is a a blue-green icon with "LAN" in one corner and "B" in the other.
Check the "Enable Bluetooth Device" setting in the Bluetooth Device section.

Click "OK."

If the device was already enabled, change the wireless LAN from "2.4GHz" to "5GHz" because, as the warning message should say, using the 2.4GHz wireless LAN and the Bluetooth device can make the connection unstable.

Click the "Apply" button after the appropriate boxes are checked to activate the Bluetooth signal. A blue light should come on near the computer's on/off switch for the Wi-Fi radio.

Click "OK." Another dialog box should appear explaining that the Wireless Switch Settings icon should now be in the taskbar.

Use this icon if you need to turn off or on the Bluetooth device in the future.

Desktop computers do not usually have a wireless card installed. They will have a built-in LAN card that uses a LAN cable.
If you want to connect your computer using a wireless connection then you will need to install a wireless card in your computer and configure it to communicate with your wireless router.
Otherwise you can connect to your wireless router using a LAN cable.
Your wireless router may have built-in LAN ports and you can connect your computer to the wireless router using a network cable.

Hi,
Right click on the icon in the system tray and select open network connections, a new window will pop up, right click on the disabled network adapter and select enable.
If the icon is not in the system tray go to the control panel, select network connections and enable the adapter.
If it still won't enable you may have to enable the LAN (network adapter) in the BIOS.
Please post back if you need anymore assistance.

make sure the LAN port is enabled in the idea pad and use a known good cord and port. Go unplug a working station and see if the new unit attaches. If not the problem is in the idea pad. If it does then go back and look at the Lan connect.

is your computer connected to a network using a Local Area Network connection??
let me provide some solutions for windows XP users.....
first of check the LAN wire connected between two systems..
try to avoid any loose contacts. make sure the wire and jack are in good condition.. if the jack is loose please replace the wire or else tighten it using a crimping tool... also make sure that second system has a proper network device(ethernet card/Network Interface Card) and the corresponding drivers installed. if everything is correct bring both system into the same work group. then try to connect the second system
