Wifi connection lost when power cord is connected / disconnected

Hi all,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T40 and I am facing a strange problem. The Wifi connection is lost when I connect or disconnect the power cord. The card goes back to trying to associate with an available wifi network. A few seconds later, I get a "Limited Connectivity" message.

The card NEVER associates with the network after the power cord connect/disconnect. Any suggestions?

In the battery management you must have selected a power plan other than maximum performance... so it would do this to reduce power consumed... put your powerplan in maximum performance to resolve this...

I have IBM Think Pad T-40 when I start up my pc but nothing comes on the screen. I tried using another monitor but was not able to get any signal. What shall i do?

Hi, Try disconnecting the power and take that battery out too for few seconds, then insert the battery while looking at the indecator lights, see if anything blinks, if yes then connect the power cord and turn the laptop on, and if no, you may want to check the AC adapter with a multimeter or if you have or can borrow another one... otherwise there might be a problem with the laptop itself and may need to be taken to repair center... best of luck

Try pressing Fn+F5, this is the standard on IBM laptops for enabling/disabling the wifi connection.

I have a problem.. i lost my driver for my wifi. ibm t40 think pad.. where can i download it??

First place to try is the IBM support site, which is now Lenovo.
If that does not work, try using a driver finder product. That might be able to identify the wifi card and find a driver for it.

Open the computer

You stated that the power cord connection on the computer is loose, but if it operates while connected to the external power supply that would indicate to me that the connection is working. My thought at this point is either that the battery is not accepting a charge, indicating a defective battery, or that there is a problem with the motherboard that is preventing the battery from charging.
