it maybe a hardware failure, or it can be anything really...
you might try to reset configuration by holding the power button for more than 4 seconds... it will reset your display settings and so on...
you blueray maybe stuck aswell , hold it for 10 seconds it will force a "disc out"
the last you can do is , that is ofcourse you dont have a warranty , open it up (see youtube video"ps3 bluereay disassembe" how to open it)
1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format
Okay i will need you to turn off you system off from the main power located on the back. Then you will need to turn it back on after that you will need to hold the touch senstive turn on located on the front of the ps3 hold it. You will hear a beep that just tells you that it is turning on. Still be holding the turn on button untill you hear another beap after that you can let go. This will reset you picture setting and will not delete anything on your hard disk. If this dosent work call sony at 1 800 345 7669
More than likely your hard drive
was corrupted. The easiest way to fix it is to format the hard drive.
There are LOTs of different ways to do this but the easiest way is to
just hook the hard drive to a computer via a usb cable and then formating it through disc manager.
Here's a quick guide:
It doesn't matter what file system your choose, just format it, and then pop it back into the PS3. It will recognise the hard drive as a new drive and then will reformat it again so that the PS3 can read it.
That's it! Problem solved.
The drives are SATA so if you don't have a usb cable you could always throw the drive into a laptop as long as it takes a SATA drive and use an XP or Vista CD and follow the same generall game plan: format the drive
you could swap the drive into someone else's PS3, it will do the same
exact thing. It will recognize it as a new drive and will format it,
then just pop it back into your old PS3 and boom. SUCCESS!!!
That's probably the easiest way now that I think about it.
hold the reset button to restore your settings do this various times untill you get a screen that has many options read the options and pick the option that says rebuild the hard disk drive. once it gets to 100% sat your settings. then your ps3 shouold be back to normal. the bad thing is that you will lose everything you saved on the ps3 =[
Mine did the exact same thing here is how i fixed it. Access recovery menu.
1. turn off ps3
2. hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. once the system has been shut down, re-press your finger until you hear 2 conscutive beeps (2 quick beeps)
4. when you hear the 2 beeps take your finger off the power button
5. you will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the ps button
6. the recovery menu will pop up
Now i tried the Restart System and it didnt do anything. I was not sure which one to select, so I then clicked Restore PS3 System. I lost everything, but I got it working again!!
