Trying to upgrade firmware (from 1.02.05 to2.21.02), it connected alright, started the upgrading and seems to be stuck about 2/3 the way through, Any thoughts? Can I remove it safely from the computer? It worked perfectly before.
I think that you should try to go to google and see maybe where is the button and if it happens that google also can not find the probelem of your MP3 player, then you should go to a nearby technician and he can also try to fix your problem.. if he also fails to to fix it.
You should take it back wher you bought it from and tell them to give you a similar one that was almost the same as your old one

Firmware Update problem.(Failed) hi i have Creative Zen 4GB Mp3 player. When i plug it via USB on my PC i can't upgrade frimware.İt always run in recovery mode.i start firmware upgrade and installer says "firmware upgrade failed.".Media explorer says Storage Media is 50 mb.Please help i don't know anything to repair it...
First off, download the Firmware upgrade from Creative (http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=4#type_4)
Don't run it just yet!
Now, go into the Zen Micro's Recovery Mode:
1. Take out the battery 2. Press and hold the ON/LOCK button in the ON position (far left) and put the battery back in the player. 3. The player will then switch on - wait until "Recovery Mode" appears on the screen then let go of the ON/LOCK button.
The Recovery Mode options include an option to "Reload Firmware".
Now connect your Zen Micro to your PC and run the Firmware upgrade. Your player should be recognized by the Firmware uploader. If it isn't, then then your player has other damage.
Step 1: The Zen V Plus is an MP3 player that can play music and videos; you can also view pictures and listen to FM radio. Often, MP3 devices require upgrades. Firmware upgrades to the Zen V Plus fix bugs and sometimes upgrade the user interface, which can enhance your user experience and correct problems. You can upgrade your Creative Zen V Plus to version 1.32.01 through the Creative website.
Open your web browser and navigate the Zen V Plus support page (See Below). Click here > h Click "Download" under "Firmware" and choose to "Save" it to your computer. Connect your Zen to the computer using the Zen USB cable. Double-click the file that was downloaded to your computer to start the installation process. Agree to the terms and wait for the files to be transferred and installed onto your Zen. http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=4 - type_4
I just got a ZEN Micro 4GB player for free due to Firmware problem. This totally fixed the firmware issue. Windows XP PC with Media Player 10 and the latest driver and firmware from creative. Once I had all that I plugged in my player, let it recognize and then re-flashed to latest firmware. BAM now the play is working perfectly and I can sync music to it. Thanks for the fix.
This is what I found. Windows Media Player 11 messes it up. All you have to do is uninstall anything Windows Media Player 11 and then run the firmware upgrader. It's some sort of but. You can reinstall WMP when your done installing the firmware. I found it on the creative forum.
I had this same problem and almost threw out the Zen.
The trick to getting the Zen recognized by the firmware update software is to make sure you uninstall BOTH WMP11 as well as the WMP11 Runtime. Those two things are listed separately in Add/Remove programs.
BOTH must be uninstalled before the firmware updater will recognize your Zen.
Clean up the drive in recovery mode a couple of times..Till it starts working..Thats the only way to solve this problem and it worked for many of my frnds..you might have to do it 3-4 times..and dont attempt a firmware upgrade after it starts working...coz this problem is really a pain..
