Question about Sharp Projection Televisions

RE: Sharp Aquos LCD TV, MODEL LC-37D40U Tried to switch the TV on via remote, and I hear the TV turning on, but then it automatically turns itself off again. Tried it several different ways using controls on the tv as well, and it still does the same thing: starts to turn on, but then automatically turns itself off. Don't know what to do -- HELP!

    Hey Armstrong,

Thanks for your response. The TV seems to have fixed itself somehow it started working by itself. I tried to sense any oddities in the operation, like a burnt smell or excess heat, but couldn't really pick up anything that would raise concern. I will still call Sharp and see if I can get some reason from them as to why or how this may have happened. Thanks again for your help.

    Cheers,

    S.

A component is shorting out, and the TV is auto turning itself off for protection. Usually it is a shorted out horizontal output transistor. Only a tech can fix this.

Some dvd players do not have the switching line fro your tv to automatically select scart input but you will be able to select via the tv remote if there are no buttons marked av it can be an oblong with an arrow pointing inwards or you may have to select via the source menu on the tv if you have your original handbook it will give a helpline number for Asda.SUPER8.

According to Sharp it is a software problem. Engineer came, installed software update ,10 minute job.....TV worked fine for 1/2 day unfortunately: Then images turned black and white in all channels TV turned itself off, and stanby and OPC buttons started flashing. When TV came back on its own 10 mins later , screen had 2 large square staines superimposed in image (as if it was a burnt screen)...Engineer will be back next week...all quite sad really for a new TV.....will keep u posted

I get white dots upper left corner across the screen of set now I have a Sharp LC-37D40U LCD TV. Is it the pixels?

Hi Yabby,

If the dots are very narrow and jump about and you're receiving an analogue signal it could be teletext information. This is normal but is usually hidden off the top of the screen. You need to adjust the picture height to take them off the top.

Andy

SHARP AQUOS LC-26P70E - Clock

Most TV's don't change with daylight savings time, since they do not operate with a date, just time. You will need to change it via the remote.
Good luck
