Most compressors have a shut off switch that will cut it off at 100-150 psi depending on the make and model of the compressor. The only way to change it would be to install a different pressure switch or hard wire it (this is not recommended, over pressurizing can cause the tank to rupture)

Remove the screw of the top of the compressor, turn on the compresser and allow it to charge. By keeping in mind note the pressure on the pressure gauge when the compressor turns off. Release the air from the pressure tank and watch the pressure guage and make a note of a point where compressor on.

My air compressor will crank and run for 7 to 10 minutes and then die just like you turn the key off.

well you didnt mention what year or model number you got but some of the better IR compressors have a fuel saver mode that if they don't sense any change in load for like 15 minutes they shut off could be what your seeing , or could also be a safety sensor on the seperator tank not seeing any pressure build up (bad or damaged sensor?)

My air compressor will start and turn off in around 5 seconds how do I fix this

Sounds like your pressure switch is bad. The pressure switch tells the compressor when to turn on, and off. When the air pressure is low it comes on, and turns it off when it get to the right pressure.

Changing pressure switch on qrs15

You should be able to adjust the pressure switch inside. There should be a screw that you can turn in and out to adjust the pressure. By turning the screw out, it should lower the pressure.

Ingersoll Rand 3 hp air compressor builds correct pressuse but trips rest when called to restart. Changed starter and running capasitors but no change in problem.

You need to check the head unloader.
Compressed air that is trapped over the piston when the compressor shuts off will be evacuated to atmosphere through the unloader valve, to prevent that compressed air pressure from adding load to the start up of the compressor motor, when the pressure switch again calls for air. For example, the last time you did a sit-up, you may have folded your arms over your chest, or if you are particularly masochistic : - ) , even held a weight to your chest. What you were doing is increasing the load against which your muscles have to work to effect the sit up.
Compressed air, captured in the cylinder after the compressor shuts off, would increase the load against which the electric motor would have to work. It may increase the load too much, and the motor may fail to start, or it may pull too many amps and fry a fuse or pop a breaker in the panel.
When the compressor shuts off, the unloader valve operates, it unloads the trapped air to atmosphere, and that problem is solved.
The unloader valve is plumbed somewhere in the line between the compressor and the compressor tank.
It is often part of the pressure switch assembly. It will, in many cases, be opened by the pressure switch, when the air in the compressor air tank reaches the set point and the pressure switch trips the power supply to the motor off, and at the same time, trips the unloader valve to open.

it is normaly on the bottom of the pressure switch it will have a small tube hooked to it

Henry@I have a coleman model #C65C600V1B103 air compressor. When te compressor shuts off it blleeds air thru a 1/4 inch line thath's attached to the pressure switch. This continues blleding off...

Check that the pressure switch is installed correctly, meaning there is a in and out. There should be.
If not try turning the pressure switch around or installing it reverse of what it is now.

Also there should be an adjusment on the switch to stop it from releasing at a certin pressure.I think 150psi is max.Set it below.

I don't know what that adjustment knob is supposed to do or what the two dials mean.

The knob adjusts the outlet air pressure. One gauge shows tank pressure and the other is your outlet pressure. The pressure is changed by turning the knob (generally counter-clockwise to reduce pressure) Pressure requirements differ depending on the tools you are running. Most air tools will list a Maximum Operating Pressure on them or in the manual.

Compressor runs to 175psi but trips pressure relief when pressure drops tries to restart motor but motor wont turn blows breaker. changed whole pressure switch have same problem.

The problem is lilkely the check valve between the compressor and the tank -- it is alowing pressure to build from tank to compressor preventing the compressor from turning over. Clean, maybe replace, check valve...

Compressor hangs up after a few minutes of operation. I have changed both capacitors

Does this occur at the same pressure each time? Maybe the pressure switch is mis-adjusted or defective. Does it restart at the same pressure each time? Does the motor seem hard to turn when the unit quits?. Does the compressor have an adequate level of oil?
