Re: SAMSUNG R40PLUSS COULD NOT FIND THE FILE...
The system 32 folder in the windows directory is corrupt, if you can get your machine started, back up all of your data straight away before the system crashes "DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER UNTIL BACKUP IS COMPLETE" then you'll have to do a recovery either by disk or recovery partition, consult the laptops user manual for the recovery instructions

The hard drive has issues, or windows files have been corrupted, Remove hardware from the laptop and reseat it back in place, sometimes this is enough to get it started, if no change! do a operational install with the cd installation disc, if this fails the hard drive should be assessed for replacement.
You have hard drive issues or windows files are corrupted, remove hardware and reseat it back in place, sometimes this will get the hard drive working, if this fails! set the boot order to DVD CD and try and run the recovery disc, if no change! it means the hard drive has issues and may have to be replaced.
the gateway hang indicates to things either a bios problem or a failing hard drive, sometimes when hard drives start getting old they take a while to spin up and/or has difficulty finding the boot sector, you also have corrupt files which would indicate a failing hard drive.
Try just restarting your computer the hard drive will already be warmed and spun up so the Gateway screen may pass faster.
Try running this prog to diagnose a failing hard drive,it will run in the background so just uninstall it your drives fine.
Can you hear the hard drive spinning and the computer appears to be running but you you get a blank screen. If you look at the LCD screen at an acute angle and you see a dim image. then you have a backlight problem. To determine if you have a video card problem or a lcd screen problem, Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first and then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.
Get back to me with the results of these tests and any error messages etc. so I can advise you.
Hiya. Why replace the hard drive? When you say your computer failed to boot - are you sure it wasn't booting? Maybe it did boot but your screen remained blank. It sounds more like a screen problem, quite likely the ribbon connection is loose or it could be damaged. Its a very common problem and tilting the screen moves the ribbon a fraction and it then makes the connection. Try switching on and if the screen is totally blank, no message at all, no flashing cursor then its the screen. If you wanted to be 110% sure, easiest way is to connect laptop to an external screen and test it that way. Hope this is helpful.
Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
