Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
Before my big problem, my ps2 just kept cuttin off for no reason. so i made up my mind and opened it. i just opened it and took a peek and then closed it backup. but now its not even comin on anymore. help.
I fixed my ps2 alot of times. your problem is either in socket where u plug the power cord into your ps2. or you have a bad connection. what ever you do. dont take it apart while its plugged in. after you got it all apart. just the cover. then you can plug it in to see whats going on. there might even be a jam in the gears. or your ps2 will always shut off if it gets to hot. the fan might not be working. try it out first. if you find the problem. go to ebay.com and search for a part or sometimes you can find a whole ps2 that has broken parts in it that they cant fix or have the money to fix. if u buy a whole ps2. you can take what you need for parts. thats what i do. works everytime.

You are posted in the Big PS2 section, so I hope you got a Big PS2, not a slim. If you do have a slim, I think your motherboard is shot. If you do have the big PS2, you need to open th case up and Disassemble it to find out whats wrong. Your probably have a SCPH-50001 and when you dropped it some of the plastic inside broke.
You need to remove the 8 screws on the bottom, which are hidden by square screw covers. You can pop the screw covers up with a knife blade. Remove the Warranty label on the cases seam next to where the power cable hooks in. Lift the case from the back slightly and pull it forward just enough to clear the CD drawer. Then roll the over cover counter clockwise being carfeul not pull reset/eject button cable loose. In this motion lay the case cover to the right side upside down.
Now remove the little screws holding the cd Drive cover on. Yo may ned to use a screwdriver to put in the rectangle holes and pry outward to release the catch at the back of the CD drive cover. See if you see any damage and write back a comment here . Hope this helps.
I can fix it for a reasonable price for you if you're in the USA. www.playstationclinic.com
