Heater defrost wiring digram

I had a repairman come out and the defrost heater was bad he wanted 600.00 dollars to replace a 50.00 dollar part. He unplugged it and I need a diagram to hook it back up.

I understand that there is only two wires on the heater but there is a brown coming out of the harness, a red off the timer and a white off the fan. hence the need for a scematic, nothing on the back or the motor cover.

Again, look for the schematic on the back of the unit or under the enclosure in the back that holds the compressor.

The heater only has two wires. They are located in the places where the new item plugs in. If the timer is bad, generally, you should have the schematic. Look on the back of the fridge or behind the motor cover.

Not cold and ice on back of freezer

if the inside back wall of the freezer has frost or like snow on it you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, defrost heater or timer, open the fridge door and up where the lite is you'll see a hole, with a strait blade screw driver turn the timer slowly until it clicks and then open the freezer door,if the fan isn't blowing then you have it in defrost, remove all the food, shelves and back wall and ice maker and with a hair dryer melt out all the ice,on the top of the evap coil you'll see a thermostat with two wires going to it,most likely this is your problem because you have a calrod heater in this machine and they hardly go bad, shut down the machine or unplug it,cut the two wires close to the body of the thermostat, strip the ends of the two wires and tape them or wire nut them together bypassing the thermostat, turn the machine back on or plug it back in and with the timer in defrost you should hear a crackling sound, that's the heater getting hot and melting the ice, leave it on so the heater helps you melt out all the ice.also if you look at the top of the thermostat and if the top is popping up you can visually see that the t-stat is bad, water gets in it and freezes and buldges the top off, after you melt out all the ice, shut down the machine again or unplug it so you don't get a shock and install the new thermostat part number 12001937 and it's around 15 dollars, remove the old thermostat and put the new t-stat in the same spot the old one was in,put it back togehter, turn the timer until it clicks and it's out of defrost and you're all set.if it takes you a little longer to do this and it comes out of defrost while working on it reset it back into defrost until the job is down and then take it out of defrost when down.hope this helps and you'll save around 185 dollars by doing this your self.hope this helps and if you need any other help let me know, glad i could help salde.

You have a defrost problem. You'll need to give me a model number. However, if you can locate the defrost timer ,usually in fridge side upper part with the other controls you will advance ,turn wheel till it clicks into defrost. Then you will want to examine the defrost heater and the terminator if they are fine replace timer. If either check open with an ohm meter replace that part, most likely a defrost tube which is like a light bulb, it only take two more screws and plugging in two wires to replace abuot a hundred dollars for both the heater and terminator which I also recommend replacing.

you could have a bad heater, thermostat and there's a sensor on top, look at it,if it has a black ring around it where the wires go into it you need to change that out too.there's a computer board in this too but it sounds like you just have a defrost problem, bad heater or thermostat.unplug it melt out all the ice, with a meter read out the heater, also look at it,if it's all black looking inside the glass change it out even if it reads good with the meter, the heater is bad if it's black,if you're going to do this yourself it's not a bad idea to change the thermostat too.part number for the heater is WR51X10055 and it's around 40 dollars and the thermostat is WR50X10068 and it's around 15 dollars.also check the sensor part number wr55x10025 and it's around 8 dollars.cut the wires close to the body of the thermostat, they give you wire connectors to connect the new thermostat and the same with the sensor if the sensor has the black ring around it where the wires connect to it,if it's all white leave it alone and melt out all the ice with a hair dryer, you can't read out the thermostat if it gets warm so just melt out all the ice first with the fridge unplugged then remove the heater, read it out with a meter and look at it if it looks black inside the glass the heater is bad if it looks and reads good with the meter then just change out the thermostat and you should be fine.good luck,if you need any more help let me know

Freezer keeps icing up, warming down the fridge

Good day,
Step one is get your money back. He fixed nothing. He obviously did not check everything.
You have an issue with the defrost system.
The defrost system which melts excess frost off the coils daily, has had a failure.
It is made up of 3 components. The defrost control, defrost thermostat, and the main defrost heater. You will need a qualified tech to isolate the bad part and replace it. If you want to perform the work yourself and have a VOM meter, post back to me.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

I am going to paste part of your text and then reply:

Your text:

Repairman came back and replaced a small round part at the top of the evaporator (resistor??) <
{ That was the termostat}

I just read that the problem could be the defrost thermostat..

He already replaced it.

I hate to say it but is sounds like your in repairman hades.

So far I see 1. a new mother board, 2. new defrost thermostat and 3. new defrost heater element. (other than wiring that is everything in the circuit)

Either one of the 3 NEW parts is bad or...there is a partially broken wire in the circuit.

Hopefully this helps you understand. ( I know it does not fix your uint)

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

P.s your words again:

one would expect this to be remedied.
You got that right!
