Somewhere in the past aright handed lens cover has become lost. Need another.

Not sure about the reference to 'right-handed' lens cover - most of them have a spring clip for the filter threads. To get a lens cap, just look on eBay for one that has the same internal diameter as the filter threads on the lens - this is usually marked on the lens, as in 49mm, 52mm etc.

Employee dropped it and the front cover that goes over the actual lens came off. there are two odd shaped pieces with springs.

Those are most likely the retainers that kept the lens cap secure in in place, if not broken, you should be able to put it back together.

My engine is tapping near the rear valve cover sounds like a broken spring, i need to know what i have to do to investigate the problem

if it was mine i would go to a car parts store and get a new valve cover gasket. then i would pull the valve cover off and see what is making the noise. if i saw nothing obviously broken i would clean the old gasket and surfaces off, put the new gasket on and reassemble. you could have a sticky lifter, most likely can be driven with no harm for a long time. if there is a broken spring then a deeper level of mechanical repair needed and a repair shop is the place to take it. head is most likely going to have to come off.

When I push the power on it opens and makes two rounds of beeps and instantly shuts down and the lens retracts.

I had the same problem. I took the lens assembly out and took it apart and found a broken plastic tab that connects a very small spring for the focus lens. Apparently the lens tries to autofocus, but can't because the spring is not connected so it then shuts down. The spring is near the smallest motor in the lens assembly. I made a new connector for the one end of the spring out of a small wire and glued it in, then put everything back and it fixed it. This is like working on a watch, everything is very small, I mean tiny. You need much patience and a steady hand for this job.

Lens cover won't open when Canon Powershot A520 Camera turned on

I have two Canon Power shots---the A610, and the A630. The lens cover is starting to hang on my 630 when the lens retracts.

If the lens is extended, take your fingertip and try to move the cover a bit to see if it springs open. If not, then the mechanism within the lens needs to be replaced.

Canon makes a great camera, and I would tell you to try to have it fixed if it costs less than 75 dollars. At 75-100 dollars it's a toss-up. More than a 100 dollars---it's your call.

When turn it on the lens will come out but the cover that is over the glass part of the lens wont open

This is a common problem to deal with in all these type of cameras. You can take the camera apart going slowly and you will need a small philips and straight screwdriver. It is easy to do but time consuming. Once you get the lens apart you can see the spring that holds onto the side and either super glue it if the plastic is broken or remove it all together. I would rather try to fix it. Let me know how it goes.

Lens cover mechanism is broken

It will need replacement if under warranty
A repair will be almost as expensive as buying a new camera
