HI, The serial port of my computer does not work. I test it using the hyperterminal an jumping the 2 an 3 pins. In order to have another COM port install a USB-SERIAL adapter but it only works when the utility program is running in windows. I have 5 old PLC'S that can only be reprogrammed using DOS but i can't enable the communication.
I hope you can explain me what can i do to fix that problem.

if the laptop is wifi enabled there is no need o connect it through the Ethernet cable it will just pick up the signal and you will have to put in the pass code. Even if you want to connect by Ethernet cable you should be able to just plug it in and get on the internet. if the problem is you don't know the pass code it should be on the original modem manual.
Use a console cable with following minimum pinout (the flat gray one with the RJ45- D9 type converter currently shipping with new P33xx switches will suffice): DB9 Console Port 1 ----------- 6 2 ----------- 3 3 ----------- 2 4 ----------- 4 5 ----------- 5 6 7 ----------- 8 8 ----------- 7 9
Obviously the speed is set to 9600
maybe stop all sessions & try to re-establish a new one. The instruction manual warns u can only run one..
Hi. I use the 9 pin port with a Cisco rollover cable to access the console port of routers and switches. Using a terminal emulation program such as HyperTerminal. It allows me to configure the routers and switches. I believe that it can also be used to connect to old modems. I hope this helps, Nelson McKinnon.
