My son was playing some video game on the internet that required him to use the arrow keys. He did something and now the keyboard doesn't work properly. You press a key and it makes some beep sounds and then the letter appears. It takes about three to four seconds and a couple beeps for the letter to appear. I've tried to uninstall and install the keyboard. I've tried to replace it. None of that has helped. I called my internet provider and they said it sounded like it was a setting problem, but that they could not help me. Do you have any solutions? Thanks!
Turn on your computer, go to the control panel, if you are using Windows XP, click on switch to classic control panel" and then go to Accessibility Options. There is a keyboard tab that the settings can be changed to help people with disabilities operate their keyboards better but if you hold down certian keys for more than a few seconds, Windows XP will activate these settings. Sounds like your son accidently turned on "FilterKeys" There is a check box on the Keyboard tab of Accessibility Options that turns off FilterKeys. If "Use FilterKeys" is checked, uncheck that box and then click "OK" and see if that helps.
Good Luck!
Just hold down sift key and thn turn off filter key and sticky key

The response was fast and absolutely accurate! I can't believe how easy it was! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! A couple of companies were going to charge me $50 to $60 to fix this for me. I'm so glad I tried your website first! Kuddos!
