Lol he doesn't have a specific problem. This is a question on the Americas Desktop Proficieny exam... There's about 14 questions, and if you score above 80% you don't have to speak with a phone representative to obtain warranty parts from Dell's dispatch service.

POST measn power on self test. It happens as soon as you switch the system on and the CPU runs the BIOS POST code. During POST the screen is initialised and then you may see some text and messages. Before the screen is initialised, the speaker may beep with error codes to tell you that something is wrong. e.g. two long - one short beep. Different sounds  means different things.
Do you have a specific problem?

Blinking lights

You say the "FORNT" lights blink and the system "Wont" start?
That is because the Hard Drive is not functional, or the Operating System is dysfunctional. Reinstall Windows... no other choices. If you can not install Windows, the drive is bad.

"A possible VRM 1 failure has occurred"

VRM stands for Voltage Regulator Module.

It regulates Voltage for the Processor.

The Processor MUST have a steady, 'clean', supply of Voltage; and it MUST be kept within the tight voltage range, for the Processor.

Too little, or too much; and the Processor turns off. (BIOS turns it off)

Your motherboard supports two Processors.

1) Processor (CPU_0) Zero which is in the middle of the motherboard, next to the PCI Express x16 slot;

2) and Processor (CPU_1) One, which is next to it.

The VRM 1 has failed. Needs to be replaced.

VRM's used are interchangeable.

IMHO you can remove Processor 1 (CPU_1), and it's VRM, and still use the computer; albiet slower though.

My DELL Workstation 670 says Memory configuration is invalid and system will halt. What is the solution. It is not detecting menory installed in 1st slot.

Maybe the memory is the wrong type or is too big (too many Mb for one slot).

Check your Motherboard specs or goto CRUCIAL.COM and run their SCAN MY COMPUTER program to see the max memery size for pc and for each slot.

Good luck and please post back with your results.
