This may be a backlite problem. You may have to replace the panel.

The problem is the power supply, but of the monitor. You need replace it. This is a common problem in some LCD screen as Samsung and Viewsonic.

Replace the power supply to the pc if the fan is not working it could be overheating and causing it to shut down.

Need more information.
Project is not clearly defined.
Add a comment with clear description of each wire and what Load is being controlled.
Why are you using a 4-way switch? Are you controlling 240Volt circuit?

Photoelectric switch usually has red, black, white wires, and usually replaces a single pole switch but can also be used to control 240Volt circuit in some wiring diagrams.

4-way switch has 4 screw terminals and is generally not used to replace a single-pole photoelectric eye, but can be used to control 240Volt circuit in some wiring diagrams, so I'm not sure what you are doing.

Adam05@telus.netI have wired the 4-way switch with a 3-way switch at either end of the cct as noted on the instructions but the lights only operate from either if the 3-way switches. once the 4-way switch...

You've got your connections mixed up somehow. It happens. The neutral seems to be OK, otherwise the lights would not work at all.

Here's what you want to double check: At the 3-way switch box that contains the source, the hot (black) wire from the source is connected to the "odd" screw on the 3-way switch. The cable that goes to the next switch (the 4-way) should have a white, black, and red. The black and red connect to the 2 screws of the same color on the 3-way switch. The neutrals, of course are just twisted together with a wire nut.

In the next switch box (the 4-way), and this is where I think you may have made the mistake,
connect a black and red from the _same _cable (pick a set, it doesn't matter which cable as long as both wires are from the same cable.), to the top two screws, again, it doesn't matter which wires are connected to which screw, as long as both wires from the same cable are connected to the top screws. Connect the other black and red from the remaining _cable_ to the two bottom screws, again, it doesn't matter which wire goes to which screw, as long as they are from the _same_ cable_. There should be two white wires in that box also, one from each cable. Just twist the two white wires together with a wire nut.

Of course, at the last switch (3-way) the "odd" screw on the 3-way switch should be connected to the (black) switch leg going to the light and the black and red (that are in the same cable coming from the 4-way switch) are connected to the 2 screws of the same color on the switch. The white wires just twisted together with a wire nut.

Again, take the time to double check your connections. Everyone makes mistakes.

I have a problem with a guardian 21230L garage door opener when you push the button the light flashes but no door movement happens can you help cheers Tom

I have the same problem. Door does not open or close when press the push button and/or transmitter. The light flashes 5 times. Manually open or close the door is ok. On the manual troubleshoot, it says it's either the opener is overheated or it's on vocation mode. I don't know how to switch of vocation mode. Is it possible the thermal sensor is broken?
Can someone help?

How do you set the days that you want the system to operate ?

R88 series timers at Intermatic.
Click on model number to see manual:

Add a comment if you have different timer

At fixya, we're not supposed to copy-paste from manual, but manual says information clearly.
If timer has the day-skipper wheel located lower left of large yellow dial:
Not every timer has day-skipper wheel, in which case timer works same for each day.
TO SKIP DAYS: Turn black skipper wheel COUNTER-CLOCKWISE
until today's day is in front of "14" arrow. Press pins DOWN on days
of NO watering. The skipper wheel must have all pins UP for daily

Additional instructions:
1. TO SET FIRST ZONE: For watering, push gold pin into slot on yellow
dial at desired ON time. For each 12 minutes of additional watering
add one pin WITHOUT skipping a slot.
2. TO CHANGE ZONES: Leave one blank slot on yellow dial after ON
line (gold pin), and valve will automatically advance to next zone.
3. TO SET ADDITIONAL ZONES: Repeat steps 1 and 2. REMEMBER
to leave blank space between zones
4. TO SET TIME OF DAY: Turn yellow dial CLOCKWISE, until correct
line is at end of silver time pointer. Do NOT turn silver pointer.
5. TO SKIP DAYS: Turn black skipper wheel COUNTER-CLOCKWISE
until today's day is in front of "14" arrow. Press pins DOWN on days
of NO watering. The skipper wheel must have all pins UP for daily
6. PUT SELECTOR SWITCH IN AUTO: This switch can be used to turn
the system ON or OFF for manual operation without affecting the set

Hello. I just installed a GE Combination Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter and it keeps tripping, seemingly for no reason as when it trips there isn't much of a load on it. This is the second one of these I...

AFCI's can be a real pain, as I'm sure you know.

First, no offense, but check to see if the AFCI is wired correctly. The (usually coiled) white wire that is permanently attached to the breaker connects to the neutral bus bar in the electric panel. The white wire that goes out to the circuit is attached to the "white" (or "neutral") terminal _on_ the breaker. That is _very_ important. The hot wire
that goes out to the circuit is attached to "hot" terminal on the breaker. The bare equipment grounding wire that goes out to the circuit is also connected to the neutral bus bar (IF this is the MAIN electric service panel) If it is a sub-panel, the neutral bar should be isolated from the equipment grounding bar.

Second, unplug everything, turn off all lights, and remove any smoke detectors on the circuit, then see if the breaker holds. If it holds, plug things back in one by one until something trips the breaker.

Remember that if there are smoke detectors on the circuit that smokes are usually interconnected (if one goes off, they all go off). So you will have to pull other smokes in other rooms too.

If it doesn't hold, read on.

Determine which outlets and lights, including smoke detectors are on the circuit. The outlet closest to the electric panel is probably the first outlet. Go to the approximate 1/2 way point in the circuit, pull out the receptacle, take note how it is wired, then remove all the wires from the receptacle and separate them so they aren't touching anything, including the bare equipment ground wires. You don't want _any_ wires feeding downstream. This means you will probably have to remake the equipment grounding wires connection with a wire nut when done.

Turn on the breaker and see if it holds. If it doesn't hold, then go 1/2 way upstream and repeat. If it holds, then go 1/2 way downstream. And so on.

Also, remember that the bare equipment grounding wires and the white neutral wires are ONLY bonded together ONCE at the MAIN electric panel. They should never be connected together after they leave the MAIN electric panel, so look for that too.

Good luck.

Just changed out the carraige rack and cant seem to get the travel up and down right. It either goes all the way or stops too soon. Any help?

It sounds like you may have moved the placement of the trolley when you did this. The adjustment screws are to be adjusted 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time. This might be the problem.

You may also have a damaged limit assembly on the inside of the unit or the metal drive shaft may need to be replaced. These are things better left to the pro's but if you can handle it and can track down the problem shoot for it. Thanks BB

Zoeller sump pump, outside in stairwell. Rainstorm, alarm goes off, i look out, does not seem to be running or maybe it was not sure, rain was slowing down so I silenced the alarm and went back to bed. In...

Sorry to say, but it does sound like the pump is fried. It should come on(run) when it's plugged in. The fact that the water surrounding the pump was hot is a good sign that the pump was way over-heated. Also, that oil in the water is likely from the pump. Oil is used in the pump for lubrication and to water proof the inside of the pump.
The only thing I can recommend is to see if the bottom of the pump has a removable strainer or plate, and if so, see if debris has gotten inside and bound up the impeller.

2 wire chain pull light switch. One blac/one white. which wire goes to which terminal

The gold terminal is usually the "hot" terminal (black wire), the silver terminal is "neutral" (white wire). Remember to turn off the power before you work on it.
